Urogynecologist
Women living with prolapse, incontinence, and pelvic floor injury need a physician who restores function—not another delayed referral. You will own the full arc of care: precise diagnosis, the right operation or conservative plan, and a recovery patients can actually complete. Success is visible in continence, comfort, fewer complications, and a practice peers trust with their hardest cases.
Performance Objectives
- Evaluate and treat pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence, fistulas, and mesh-related complications so new patients receive a clear plan at the first or second visit.
- Perform reconstructive and continence surgery—vaginal, laparoscopic, or robotic, as credentialed—with complication, reoperation, and readmission rates at or better than peer benchmarks.
- Match surgical and nonsurgical options to patient goals, including pessary care, pelvic floor therapy, and office procedures, so treatment fits the person, not a default pathway.
- Run a reliable postoperative pathway that catches urinary retention, infection, and wound issues early and cuts avoidable emergency visits.
- Build referral confidence with gynecology, urology, primary care, and pelvic floor therapy through timely communication and shared case review.
- Track patient-reported outcomes on leakage, bulge, pain, and quality of life each quarter and use them to refine technique and counseling.
- Teach trainees or advanced practice clinicians on complex pelvic floor cases so the service’s standard of care rises with your volume.
Environment & Resources
You join a women’s pelvic health service with clinic support, scheduled operating time, and collaboration from pelvic floor physical therapy, urology, and colorectal surgery when cases require it. You report to the physician service leader. Tools include an electronic record, cystoscopy and urodynamic capability, care coordination for referrals and authorizations, and a quality dashboard for surgical and patient-reported results.
Essential Qualifications
- MD or DO with an accredited obstetrics and gynecology or urology residency and a recognized female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery fellowship.
- Board certification or active eligibility in FPMRS, plus unrestricted licensure or clear eligibility in the practice state.
- Independent experience with prolapse repair and incontinence procedures, including the minimally invasive approaches you will offer.
- A credentialing profile that supports the planned case mix and hospital privileges, or a straightforward path to them.
- Documented skill in counseling patients through tradeoffs of surgery, pessary, and therapy on complex pelvic floor problems.
Role Selling Points
- A dedicated pelvic floor practice, not a generalist schedule crowded with unrelated work.
- Operating and clinic time protected for the outcomes you are hired to deliver.
- An existing pelvic health team, so you grow a service rather than invent one alone.
- Credit for surgical judgment and patient-reported results, not volume alone.
