    Description

    OB/GYN

Patients trust you with the moments that define a life—prenatal decisions, labor, surgery, and the years of care that follow. This role exists so women and families get timely, evidence-based obstetric and gynecologic care without falling through gaps in access or continuity. Success is measured in safe deliveries, fewer avoidable complications, and patients who leave knowing what happens next.

    Performance Objectives

    • Deliver comprehensive prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum care that meets quality and safety targets for cesarean rate, maternal morbidity, and newborn outcomes.
    • Manage a full gynecology panel—well-woman care, contraception, abnormal bleeding, and office procedures—so patients receive definitive plans in the same visit whenever clinically appropriate.
    • Perform indicated gynecologic and obstetric surgery with documented indication, informed consent, and complication rates consistent with peer benchmarks.
    • Respond to labor-and-delivery and emergency consults within defined call expectations, stabilizing patients and coordinating handoffs that prevent delays in care.
    • Close the loop on abnormal results, referrals, and postpartum follow-up so high-risk patients are not lost between visits.
    • Partner with nursing, anesthesia, pediatrics, and primary care to standardize protocols that reduce variation and improve patient experience scores.
    • Document encounters completely and on time so coding, quality reporting, and continuity of care stay accurate.

    Environment & Resources

You will practice within a physician-led women’s health team supported by experienced nurses, midwives or advanced practice clinicians where utilized, and dedicated labor-and-delivery staff. Clinic, ultrasound, and operating-room access are scheduled to support both continuity and surgical volume. You report to the medical director or department chair and have a defined call schedule, coverage partners, and clinical support staff rather than building a practice alone.

    Essential Qualifications

    • MD or DO with completion of an ACGME- or AOA-accredited obstetrics and gynecology residency.
    • Board certified or board eligible in obstetrics and gynecology, with active or obtainable state medical license and DEA registration.
    • Current competence in vaginal and operative delivery, cesarean birth, and common gynecologic procedures required by the service.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage high-risk pregnancy in collaboration with maternal-fetal medicine when indicated.
    • Eligibility for hospital privileges and malpractice coverage; willingness to participate in the published call rotation.

    Role Selling Points

    • A balanced mix of obstetrics and gynecology so surgical skill and longitudinal relationships both stay sharp.
    • Structured call and coverage so nights and weekends are shared, not open-ended.
    • Clinical support that lets you spend visit time on decisions, not chasing results.
    • A practice that measures success by outcomes and patient continuity, not volume alone.
