    Description

    As an Equipment Safety Engineer within the EHS&S team, you will play a key role in the GFTX EHS team, ensuring safety is integrated into factory and equipment design from concept through production.

    You will collaborate with New Programs Engineering, AI & Robotics, Manufacturing, and design teams to develop standardized, high-quality safety solutions for automated manufacturing equipment. This role spans design, build, commissioning, and production support.

    Working both independently and cross-functionally, you will help solve complex safety challenges with practical, innovative approaches-driving safer workplaces, improving efficiency.     • Lead machine safety activities across equipment lifecycle from concept, design, build, to sustaining production
    • Perform hazard analysis and risk assessments for automation, robotics, and manufacturing systems
    • Ensure compliance with Tesla standards and global regulations (ANSI, ISO, OSHA, NFPA, RIA)
    • Execute FAT and SAT to verify safety requirements and ensure equipment is safe for operation
    • Validate safety control systems, including functional testing of safety PLCs and safety devices
    • Partner with design, manufacturing, and external vendors to develop and deploy robust safety solutions
    • Support audits, change management, and continuous improvement to maintain safe operations
    • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Environmental Health, or equivalent experience
    • 5+ years of experience in equipment or safety engineering
    • Knowledge of machine safety systems and controls platforms
    • Familiar with global safety standards (ANSI, ISO, RIA, NFPA, OSHA)
    • Experience supporting design review, FAT/SAT, commissioning
    • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills
    • Certifications (CSP, CMSE) or robotics experience preferred
