Maintenance TechnicianPosition Overview
We are seeking an experienced
Maintenance Technician for a manufacturing facility in the area. This position is responsible for supporting the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of production equipment through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and equipment improvements.
The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills and be comfortable working with
industrial wiring, PLC-controlled equipment, welding/fabrication, and CNC/manual lathes.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial production and manufacturing equipment.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PMs) to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability.
- Troubleshoot industrial electrical wiring, motors, sensors, switches, relays, control panels, and related components.
- Work with and troubleshoot PLC-controlled machinery and automation systems.
- Maintain and repair AC/DC motors, VFDs, gearboxes, pumps, conveyors, bearings, heaters, chillers, and drive systems.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and mechanical drawings.
- Perform basic welding and fabrication as needed for equipment repairs and modifications.
- Utilize CNC and/or manual lathes and machining equipment for basic repair, modification, or fabrication of machine components.
- Troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic systems, including cylinders, valves, pumps, and related components.
- Assist with equipment installation, upgrades, startup, and commissioning.
- Perform machine adjustments, calibrations, and changeovers as needed.
- Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and work closely with production to minimize downtime.
- Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and PPE requirements.
- Document maintenance work, repairs, and parts usage.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities.
- Familiarity with industrial electrical wiring and control panels.
- Experience working with PLCs, VFDs, motors, sensors, relays, and automated equipment.
- Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Familiarity with welding and basic fabrication.
- Experience or familiarity with CNC and manual lathes/machining equipment.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints, and mechanical drawings.
- Experience with plastics, extrusion, flexible packaging, converting, or similar manufacturing equipment is a plus.
- Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs and work in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Forklift certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with production, maintenance, and engineering teams.
