As a team member of Tesla, you will be working on equipment improvements, fabrication projects, as well as repair or preventative maintenance projects, shoulder to shoulder with your supervising equipment engineer, in addition to supporting other equipment engineers, process engineers, controls engineers and the maintenance team to improve equipment OEE and production line efficiency / ergonomics. Analysis, troubleshooting and implementation of equipment projects - consisting of data analysis, issue diagnosis, repair, fabrication, assembly - are activities that will take place on a daily basis while ensuring safety protocols and PPE requirements are adhered to.
Day-to-day coverage of production line equipment: respond to alarms, breakdowns, and production requests to minimize downtime
Diagnoses equipment failures, find root cause and communicate actions taken to the rest of the team
Evaluate failures and provide technical solutions to improve quality and OEE in the specified area, interpreting and following basic blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, weld symbols, bills of materials, and other written instructions or procedures to accurately create equipment and products
Take initiative to create, implement, and improve PM documents or schedules, under the direction of the Equipment Engineer and Maintenance Supervisor
Participate in spare part analysis and inventory development, cost reduction, and improvement working with Spares Coordinator and Maintenance Engineering to RMA faulty components and communicate needs to the vendor
Work with Process and Equipment engineering and other cross functional groups to resolve maintenance issues, improve equipment reliability, review procedures, and minimize equipment downtime.
Active leader of a TPM team while taking on improvement projects to assist in improving the factory
Experience using engineering and root cause analysis tools such as FMEA, DMAIC, 8D, etc
Ability to understand the function of a system (from a PID, process flow diagram, Siemens ladder and function block diagrams)
Experience in troubleshooting, repairing or replacing malfunctioning or improperly specified or configured components or logic
Experience in data analytics, to analyze large datasets and present data in effective ways such as Pareto diagrams, Histograms, Boxplots, as well as the ability to look for patterns and "silver threads" to discover hidden trends, correlations and root causes of system failures or malfunction, and system performance and capability
Functional understanding of engineering topics such as mechanics, materials science, electrical and electrical fundamentals, fluid dynamics, heat transfer
Applied understanding of the function of common automation components such as proximity, temperature and vibration sensors; PLCs, IO blocks, network switches; motors, brakes and VFDs; pneumatic valves, cylinders, switches, air motors, gages; electrical disconnects, circuit breakers, relays, power supplies, brake resistors
Working proficiency with 3D CAD software (SOLIDWORKS, CATIA, Inventor, Solid Edge, etc.) is strongly desired
