Job Title: Epidemiologist  

Location:  Nashville, TN 

Job Type: 12 month, On Going Contract, W2 

Expected hours per week: 40 hours per week 

Schedule: On-site, 8am-4:30pm, Monday-Friday 

Pay Range: $35.71-$39.28 per hour   

Job Description:  
Candidates must be residents of Tennessee at the time of hire or be willing and able to establish Tennessee residency prior to their start date. Employment is contingent upon meeting this residency requirement.

Position Overview 

We are seeking a detail-oriented Epidemiologist I to support the development, maintenance, and enhancement of public health data collection and reporting systems. This role will be responsible for managing electronic data systems, developing data collection tools, supporting reporting and evaluation activities, and producing analyses that inform program operations and decision-making. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in REDCap, SAS programming, data management, and reporting, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance REDCap data collection systems and related workflows. 

  • Translate programmatic and business requirements into effective data collection tools and reporting solutions. 

  • Implement SAS programming updates as reporting requirements, monitoring guidance, and operational processes evolve. 

  • Independently write, test, validate, and troubleshoot code to ensure data accuracy and integrity. 

  • Prepare routine reports on program participation, outcomes, and performance metrics for internal and external stakeholders. 

  • Extract, clean, validate, and analyze data for recurring weekly, monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc reporting needs. 

  • Create data visualizations and analytical outputs to support program evaluation and operational decision-making. 

  • Provide timely responses to data requests and inquiries from leadership, stakeholders, and partner organizations. 

  • Deliver technical assistance and training to non-technical staff regarding data systems, reporting tools, procedures, and documentation. 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support surveillance, evaluation, reporting, and data-driven initiatives. 

  • Assist with the implementation, integration, and enhancement of data management systems and applications. 

  • Support special projects and fulfill ad hoc data analysis requests as needed. 

  • Maintain documentation related to system functionality, data processes, and reporting methodologies. 

  • Work independently in a remote environment while effectively managing multiple priorities and deadlines. 

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, Biostatistics, Health Informatics, Data Analytics, or a related field.

  • Extensive experience with REDCap administration, configuration, and data collection design. 

  • Proficiency in statistical programming software, including SAS. 

  • Experience managing electronic data and working with complex databases. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail. 

  • Ability to independently develop, validate, and troubleshoot code and data outputs. 

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical support and collaborate effectively within team environments. 

  • Ability to work independently and remotely. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience working with public health, healthcare, epidemiological, or population-based datasets. 

  • Experience implementing or deploying data collection, reporting, or application systems. 

  • Knowledge of system design, analysis, evaluation, and quality improvement methodologies. 

  • Experience developing data visualizations, dashboards, and performance reports. 

  • Background in program evaluation, surveillance, or outcomes measurement.
