Job Summary

An industrial electronics company is seeking a Mid-Level Epicor Prophet 21 (P21) Developer to support, enhance, and optimize its ERP environment and related business applications. As a large electronics distributor, the client relies on efficient, integrated systems to support its distribution operations, business processes, and customer needs. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Epicor Prophet 21, strong development skills in C#/.NET and API integrations, and the ability to translate business requirements into practical technical solutions. This individual will work closely with other developers, business stakeholders, and project teams to deliver reliable, scalable solutions that improve operational efficiency. The client is looking for a professional, collaborative developer who understands both the technical aspects of ERP development and the business processes that drive an organization. Experience with project management, coordinating development work, or supporting implementation projects is a strong plus.

Key Responsibilities

ERP Development & Customization

• Develop, maintain, and enhance applications and customizations within the Epicor Prophet 21 ERP environment.
• Build and maintain visual rules and business logic to support operational workflows and business requirements.
• Analyze existing ERP functionality and identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and optimization.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application issues while maintaining system stability and data integrity.
• Work with ERP-related data structures and business processes to ensure solutions align with organizational needs.

API Development & Systems Integration

• Design, develop, and maintain API integrations between Epicor Prophet 21 and internal or third-party applications.
• Develop and support services and applications using C# and the .NET framework.
• Troubleshoot integration issues, investigate data inconsistencies, and improve the reliability of system-to-system communication.
• Collaborate with internal developers and external technology partners to ensure integrations meet technical and business requirements.
• Follow sound development practices for error handling, logging, security, maintainability, and performance.

Business Analysis & Requirements Gathering

• Work with business users and stakeholders to understand operational challenges and translate them into technical requirements.
• Evaluate business processes and recommend ERP enhancements that improve efficiency, accuracy, and usability.
• Ask appropriate questions to clarify requirements, identify dependencies, and prevent unnecessary complexity.
• Validate that completed development work addresses the original business need and delivers the intended outcome.
• Balance technical feasibility, business priorities, maintainability, and long-term system needs when recommending solutions.

Collaboration & Professional Development Practices

• Work effectively with other developers, IT team members, business analysts, and project stakeholders.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, troubleshooting sessions, and development planning.
• Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
• Produce maintainable code, technical documentation, and implementation notes.
• Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, receptiveness to feedback, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.

Project Coordination

• Assist with project planning, effort estimation, task prioritization, and development scheduling.
• Communicate progress, risks, dependencies, and potential delivery delays to relevant stakeholders.
• Support ERP upgrades, enhancements, integrations, and other business technology initiatives.
• Help coordinate testing, deployment, and post-implementation support.

Required Skills

• Hands-on experience developing, customizing, or supporting Epicor Prophet 21 (P21).
• Strong programming skills in C# and .NET.
• Practical experience designing, developing, consuming, or troubleshooting APIs and system integrations.
• Experience with ERP systems and an understanding of how enterprise applications support business operations.
• Experience with visual rule development within an ERP or comparable business application environment.
• Ability to understand business requirements and convert them into effective technical solutions.
• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work professionally with other developers.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, work independently when appropriate, and collaborate effectively with a team.
