Title: Epic Operational Database Administrator
Location: For tWorth TX
Pay Rate: $60-$80/HR

Job Summary: The Epic Operational Database Administrator (ODBA) is an emerging IT professional who installs and maintains the Epic operational database. The Database Administrator is proficient in Linux platform and IRIS servers. The Database Administrator's responsibilities include: monitoring database server performance and troubleshooting issues; applying hot fixes, security updates, and service packs; maintaining database backups and verifying restores; managing security; managing and maintaining the ODB environments that serve production, reporting, disaster recovery, training, and non-production needs; creating and maintaining database objects; testing failover procedures for high availability; engaging in capacity planning exercises to ensure adequate system resources; and following Epic best practices for hardware and software configuration. Forms productive relationships with customers by listening, clarifying, and responding effectively. Participates on project teams as a key contributor. Responsible for relationship with Epic and opening and coordinating issues with Epic. Responsible for writing fundamental documentation in a clear, concise manner, adhering to standards. Must be available for support by pager or telephone 24 hours per day x 7 days per week. Job Responsibilities: --10% Administrative: -Complete time management, status reports and task updates as required by management. -10% Must be available for support 24 hours a day/7 day a week. -Must be able to take on the On Call support duties as assigned. -Must be able to perform other duties as required to meet organizational goals and objectives. --10% Policies/Procedures: -Adheres to the Health Care System and Information Systems' Policies and Procedures. -Possess a working understanding of the areas of IT and the Cook Children's products and services. --20% Customer Service/Collaboration: -Collaborating with Cook technical teams and Epic to ensure proactive support. -Participating in changing control process for all planned application and technical activities. -Forms productive relationships with customers by listening, clarifying, and responding effectively. -Responds to user problems and presents deliverables. -Cooperates with and works effectively with Information Services colleagues. -Shares knowledge effectively within the work team. Responsible for relationships with vendors. --20% Project Management: -May be utilized as a resource on projects. -Understands role and responsibilities on a project team. -Is assigned tasks of greater duration and complexity. -Can lead projects related to upgrades, enhancements, and maintenance of the IRIS database. --30% Administration/Development/Support: -The Database Administrator is responsible for monitoring database server performance and troubleshooting issues; applying hot fixes, security updates, and service packs; maintaining database backups and verifying restores; managing security; managing and maintaining the ODB environments that serve production, reporting, disaster recovery, training, and non-production needs; creating and maintaining database objects; testing failover procedures for high availability; engaging in capacity planning exercises to ensure adequate system resources; and following Epic best practices for hardware and software configuration.

Education:

Required Education: One of the following is required: -High School Diploma or GED and minimum of six (6) years of experience in information technology. -Bachelor's Degree and two (2) years Epic direct experience. -Associate's Degree and four (4) years of direct Epic experience. Preferred Education: -BA/BS Degree in IS or Business. Required Certifications & Licensure: -Current Epic ODBA Certification. Preferred Certifications & Licensure: -N/A
