Seeking Environmental Waste Technicians for factory setting in Dearborn, MI
$15.50/hour. Once hired direct, this is union position and pays $18/hour
- A shift- Monday-Thursday, 6a-4:30p OR 7a-5:30p
- C Shift Friday-Saturday 6a-430p, Sunday-Monday 6p-430A
- B Shift- Tuesday-Friday, 6pm-430A OR 7p-5:30a
Responsibilities and Job Duties:- Collect trash, recyclables, hazardous waste, scrap metal, and other waste streams throughout the plant and transport them to disposal containers or storage rooms.
- Segregate, sort, and package waste streams for off-site shipment in accordance with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements.
- Load semi-trailers and roll-off boxes for shipment to landfills, recycling centers, and other disposal sites.
- Perform and document daily equipment inspections prior to use.
- Clean and maintain the organization and compliance of the 90-day Accumulation Area, including sweeping the floor, mopping the floor, and labeling drums.
- Assist the supervisor in responding to chemical spill incidents by placing adsorbents on liquids, sweeping or vacuuming solids, and containerizing cleaned-up materials for proper disposal.
- Assist the Resource Manager with daily supply delivery, waste pick-up, and waste organization.
- Perform inspections of waste storage areas and emergency equipment, taking corrective action to eliminate deficiencies identified during inspections.
- Inventory and inspect waste spill kits.
- Document and inform the Resource Manager of any contamination in the plants recycling and waste containers.
- Maintain and complete necessary documentation of waste inventories, inspections, and other required activities.
- Operate a fork truck to load and unload trucks.

Requirements and Qualifications:- High School Diploma or GED.
- Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Must be able to pass a drug test.
Preferred:PreferredForklift experience. MUST be willing to be trained on forklift either way.
