Seeking Environmental Waste Technicians for factory setting in Dearborn, MI

$15.50/hour. Once hired direct, this is union position and pays $18/hour
  • A shift- Monday-Thursday, 6a-4:30p OR 7a-5:30p
  • C Shift Friday-Saturday 6a-430p, Sunday-Monday 6p-430A
  • B Shift- Tuesday-Friday, 6pm-430A OR 7p-5:30a
Responsibilities and Job Duties:
  • Collect trash, recyclables, hazardous waste, scrap metal, and other waste streams throughout the plant and transport them to disposal containers or storage rooms.
  • Segregate, sort, and package waste streams for off-site shipment in accordance with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements.
  • Load semi-trailers and roll-off boxes for shipment to landfills, recycling centers, and other disposal sites.
  • Perform and document daily equipment inspections prior to use.
  • Clean and maintain the organization and compliance of the 90-day Accumulation Area, including sweeping the floor, mopping the floor, and labeling drums.
  • Assist the supervisor in responding to chemical spill incidents by placing adsorbents on liquids, sweeping or vacuuming solids, and containerizing cleaned-up materials for proper disposal.
  • Assist the Resource Manager with daily supply delivery, waste pick-up, and waste organization.
  • Perform inspections of waste storage areas and emergency equipment, taking corrective action to eliminate deficiencies identified during inspections.
  • Inventory and inspect waste spill kits.
  • Document and inform the Resource Manager of any contamination in the plants recycling and waste containers.
  • Maintain and complete necessary documentation of waste inventories, inspections, and other required activities.
  • Operate a fork truck to load and unload trucks.
  • Follow all plant-related safety guidelines

Requirements and Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Must be able to pass a drug test.
Preferred:
  • Forklift experience.
PreferredForklift experience. MUST be willing to be trained on forklift either way.
