Role

We are seeking an Environmental Technician to join our Environmental Team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting environmental compliance and monitoring activities through field sampling, data collection, inspections, and recordkeeping. You will assist with implementing environmental programs and permits while helping ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations. The role is based at Thacker Pass and reports to the Environmental Manager. Occasional travel to other LAC offices, project sites, or vendor locations may be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect environmental samples, including groundwater, surface water, soil, and air samples, in accordance with established procedures.
  • Conduct routine environmental monitoring and inspections to support compliance with permits and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate field logs, sampling records, and environmental databases.
  • Assist with environmental data entry, validation, and reporting.
  • Support groundwater monitoring programs, water quality monitoring, and air quality monitoring activities.
  • Inspect environmental control systems and report deficiencies or compliance concerns.
  • Assist with spill response activities and environmental incident documentation.
  • Support environmental audits, regulatory inspections, and information requests.
  • Coordinate with operations, maintenance, and contractors to support environmental compliance initiatives.
  • Maintain environmental monitoring equipment and sampling supplies.
  • Follow all safety procedures and actively participate in site safety programs.
  • Builds and maintains trusted relationships across all teams while championing a culture that reflects and supports our Purpose, Vision, and Values
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.  Associates degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field is preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • 1–3 years of monitoring, field sampling, or environmental compliance experience preferred.
  • Capable of learning and applying environmental regulations and sampling protocols
  • Ability to collect and document data and field observations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience with environmental databases or data management systems, AutoCad and GIS is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and recordkeeping skills.
  • Ability to work independently in outdoor environments and adverse weather conditions.
  • Ability to travel to field locations and walk and work on uneven terrain.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
