Position Summary
The Environmental Services Technician V isresponsible for executing the daily dutiesrequired to establish and maintain a safe, clean, and healing environment. The role performs duties in accordance with established organizational policies and procedures for providing a safe environment, achieved by demonstrating the principles of cleaning, disinfection, and quality assurance toward the reduction of
harmful pathogens for the benefit of patients, visitors, and staff. While executing the assigned tasks, the role has contact with patients and family members. Demonstrates the technicalskills required to properly use cleaning and maintenance chemicals and floor equipment prescribed by written procedures of the Environmental Services Department. Responds favorably to requests to adjust daily workflow or
area assignments to meet facility needs.
Education/Training
High School Diploma or GED required.
Licensure/Certification
• Certified Surgical Cleaning Technician (CSCT) preferred.
• Certified Health Care Environmental Services Technician (CHEST) preferred.
Experience
• Four (4) years of experience in healthcare support services, EVS, hospitality, or a related field.
• Two (2) years of experience in floor care.
Essential Functions
• Responds to common inquiries or complaints from customers, using appropriate designated engagement techniques.
• Performs all types of floor care and maintenance throughout the facility, including hard surfaces and carpeting.
• Adheresto all organizationalsafety, risk management, and infection controlstandards while promoting a culture ofsafety.
• Cleans and performs routine maintenance on floor equipment, requesting assistance from plant operations and maintenance as needed.
• Maintains accurate floor care logs and checklists.
• Mixes chemicals according to instructions.
• Demonstrates understanding of appropriate pads, brushes, and screensto use for each flooring job.
• Operates all equipment with care and according to facility and manufacturerssafety standards and procedures.
• Maintains key logsfor equipmentsign-in/out.
• Uses communication devices properly.
• Participatesin departmental performance improvement initiatives, including but not limited to initiativesto improve HCAHPS scores as it relates to hospital cleanliness and “always quiet.”
• Performs project work and specialty tasks according to facility needs, which may include taskssuch as conference room set up/dismantle per function sheets and schedules, and cleaning ofstairwells and elevators.
• Removes waste and transports it to the appropriate disposal area while identifying proper waste streams (i.e., regulated medical, recycled, solid, and hazardous).
• Follows all infection prevention practices, including proper cleaning processes, hand hygiene, standard and isolation precautions where required, and proper use of personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Recognizes and adheres to patient privacy requirements (HIPAA)
• Operates UV disinfection machines as needed or according to policy.
• Completes other assigned tasks as directed by EVS Leadership.
• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
• Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
