Job Summary:
The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for providing comprehensive cleaning, sanitation, and light maintenance services to ensure that The Providence Center’s facilities remain safe, orderly, and welcoming. Responsibilities include interior and exterior cleaning, waste disposal, groundskeeping, and supporting equipment and furniture movement.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintains a cleaning cart in an orderly condition, keeping the cart fully stocked with required cleaning supplies.
- Maintain cleanliness of building interior, exterior and garage.
- Clean and disinfect shower and restrooms daily.
- Sweep, vacuum and wash floors and carpeting as needed.
- Remove trash from offices as needed.
- Collect universal and/or medical waste and store in authorized locations.
- Collect recycled materials such as paper, cans, and newsprint.
- Follow proper procedures concerning hazardous waste disposal and handling.
- Clean and sanitize windows, reception glass, reception counters and door handles.
- Clean offices after staff turnover.
- Complete groundskeeping of building exterior and garage. Assist in snow removal as needed.
- Complete preventative maintenance tasks and assigned work requests.
- Load furniture onto and off to a Center truck.
- Lift and move furniture into and out of various locations.
- Move equipment and furnishings for staff.
- Perform pest control prevention as directed.
- Perform assigned duties in a timely manner and clean up upon completion of jobs.
- Monitor and maintain stock levels of cleaning products and paper goods.
- Purchase parts and materials as directed.
- Follow all organizational policies and maintain a safe work environment.
- Communicate professionally and maintain positive, cooperative relationships with coworkers, consumers, external agencies, and the public.
- Work collaboratively with supervisors and colleagues, addressing workplace issues constructively and accepting guidance and feedback.
- Attend mandatory trainings, conferences, and in‑service sessions, and share relevant information learned with staff. Participate in required safety trainings.
- Provide emergency support outside of normal work hours as required for maintenance of the Center.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High School or GED Preferred.
- 2 years of experience in environmental services or housekeeping preferred.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Applies common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions.
- Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills with ability to interact positively with clients, residents, employees, supervisors, vendors and contractors
- Ability to maintain professionalism and composure in difficult interactions
