Environmental Service Technician (EVS)/Custodian

Location: Portland, Oregon 97239 or Vancouver, Washington 98661.

Contract duration: Jun 2026 - Jan 2027 (possibility of extension)

i. 12:00 AM to 10:30 AM Monday to Thursday (6)

Payrate: $16/hr on W2

Position Summary

The Environmental Service Technician (EVS) maintains a clean, safe, and sanitary environment within designated non-direct patient care areas at the VA Portland Health Care System. This role supports infection prevention and facility operations through routine custodial and terminal cleaning services.

Key Responsibilities

Clean and disinfect restrooms, offices, hallways, elevators, stairwells, and common areas.

Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and sanitize floors and high-touch surfaces.

Empty, sanitize, and reline trash and recycling containers.

Qualifications

Previous housekeeping, janitorial, or EVS experience preferred.

Healthcare or hospital cleaning experience is a plus.

Ability to work independently and follow instructions.

Strong attention to detail and reliability.

Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, bending, lifting, and walking.

Requirements

Completion of background check, fingerprinting, and VA onboarding.

Completion of required safety and infection control training.

Must wear contractor-provided uniform and closed-toe footwear.

Work Environment

Healthcare setting supporting Veterans, staff, and visitors in high-traffic clinical and administrative areas.
