What You'll Do:
The Environmental Project Manager manages environmental consulting projects of moderate complexity and oversees project execution from proposal development through project completion and invoicing. This role is responsible for technical delivery, client relationship management, staff development, project profitability, and overall project success. The Environmental Project Manager operates with limited supervision, coordinates multiple concurrent projects, and serves as a key contributor to departmental growth while demonstrating ECS Core Values.
Responsibilities
- Manages asbestos, lead-based paint, mold, and indoor air quality projects
- Oversees remediation and abatement projects
- Reviews field documentation and monitors project quality
- Performs site visits and client coordination activities
- Directs subcontractors and field personnel
- Prepares technical reports and recommendations
- Communicates project milestones, findings, and recommendations to clients
- Ensures compliance with applicable regulatory and certification requirements
- Manages environmental projects from proposal development through project closeout
- Oversees scope, schedule, budget, staffing, and technical execution for assigned projects
- Mentors junior staff and supports team development activities
- Attends project meetings and resolves technical and administrative issues
- Maintains and expands client relationships through regular communication
- Develops and maintains a client database and supports business development activities
- Manages project budgets, profitability, change orders, invoicing, and collections
- Schedules, trains, and oversees technical staff assigned to projects
- Coordinates project resources to meet schedules and client expectations
- Manages multiple projects simultaneously with limited supervision
- Prepares proposals, scopes of work, budgets, and change orders
- Prepares and reviews technical reports, analyses, and project recommendations
- Reviews deliverables prepared by junior staff prior to Principal review
- Leads project discussions and communicates project status with clients
- Coordinates field and office activities required for successful project execution
- Performs additional project management and technical duties as assigned
What We're Looking For:
Required Qualifications
- 3 years of related experience
- Bachelor's and/or Master's of Science in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Natural or Environmental Science, Geology, or other degree relevant to the practice of Environmental Consulting
- Additional licensure or certifications may be required depending on the type of work performed
- Strong knowledge of environmental principles, applications, and consulting practices
- Strong understanding of environmental regulations, permitting requirements, and testing methodologies
- Strong project management and consulting skills
- Strong decision-making and leadership capabilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously
- Ability to mentor and develop technical staff
- Strong client relationship and business development skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in environmental sampling, investigation, and reporting methodologies
- Ability to lift and carry field equipment (~40 lbs)
- Must have the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and follow all local and state laws, road/driving regulations, and Company policies
- If driving for, or on behalf of, any ECS subsidiary, a valid driver's license is required

The expected pay range for this role and location is $60,000 - $80,000/year. The final agreed-upon compensation will be determined based on specific location and other individual qualifications.
