We are currently seeking an entry-level Environmental Scientist to work with the Environmental team in our Mechanicsburg, PA office. The primary duties will be to support Senior Project Environmental Scientists and Engineers in a variety of tasks in the field of environmental design and compliance.

Responsibilities: 

  • State and federal environmental documentation (including NEPA preparation)
  • Socioeconomic analysis (including environmental justice)
  • Wetland delineations
  • Environmental Compliance
  • Stream assessments
  • Threatened and endangered species habitat evaluations and surveys 
  • Clean Water Act Section 404/401 permitting 
  • Periodic travel (including overnight) may be required when assisting with field work, as needed.
  • Assist in conducting environmental site investigations, assessments, and surveys to sample, evaluate and analyze terrestrial ecosystems including, but not limited to, riverine, wetland, and upland landscapes. 

Requirements: 

  • Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Environmental Planning or similar field
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and manage time accordingly
  • Positive attitude and willingness to work cooperatively with others
  • Willingness to take on new challenges and learn more while working on these challenges
  • Willingness to work in challenging outdoor environments, including high temperatures and steep terrain
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Experience working with ESRI ArcGIS software preferred

Physical Requirements (Essential Functions):

This position requires the ability to perform a variety of physical tasks in the field as part of the essential job functions. Duties may include:

  • Walking and navigating across rough or uneven terrain such as mud, rocks, grass, dirt, steep hillsides, stream banks, heavily wooded areas, and other unpaved surfaces
  • Performing physical activities such as bending, twisting, kneeling, and climbing

The work environment may include exposure to a range of environmental conditions, including high and low temperatures, precipitation, and other outdoor elements.

The expected compensation range for this position is $70,000.00 - $125,000.00. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
