Job Description
The Associate will assist their assigned supervisor with execution of assigned tasks, production of on time and high-quality individual work product, and positive coordination with other team members as assigned or requested in order to produce work product. The Associate is responsible for supporting the success of their assigned subpractice area and project as highest priority. The Associate will perform assigned tasks in a manner that models the Company’s core values and inspires and encourages goal achievement through empowerment, learning, and creativity among the team.
Core Responsibilities
Work Product Creation, Project Management, Coordination with Team Members
- Primary responsibilities will be to conduct and manage Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESA), Property Condition Assessments (PCA) and commercial energy usage assessments including the field inspections and report writing.
- Additional work might include subsurface investigations (including groundwater, soil gas, soil sampling), remediation work, writing technical reports and/or other project assignments as appropriate.
- Ensure that project deliverables, milestones, and budgets are met
- Work closely with senior managers in the coordination of work activities to meet milestones, budgetary limits, deadlines, or other performance indicators.
- Prepare, review, and submit final reports in accordance with regulations, applicable guidance and policies, and internal quality control standards
- Majority of the work will be located within North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia, but project demands may require fairly regular travel throughout the country.
- Responsible for supporting assigned supervisor in meeting or exceeding the defined annual budget for the entire practice area (including proactive management of individual assigned tasks, monitoring of individual utilization performance vs assigned target, and collaboration with others to achieve desired business outcomes)
- Effectively coordinate with other team members as requested or assigned, able to proactively monitor own progress on assigned tasks or projects, and ensure work product produced by self or in collaboration with other assigned team members is consistently high quality
- Support assigned Supervisor in monitoring of all relevant data such as individual utilization performance vs target, client deadlines, accurate and timely timesheet data, etc.
- Meet or exceed defined individual average utilization goals as set forth by company leadership
- Coordinate and support other team members as assigned, with emphasis on positivity and in support of a culture that is empowered to execute
- Conduct self in support of driving towards defined objectives and key results (OKRs)
- Travel as necessary to support client, employee, and leadership needs.
- Support quality control of service delivery with all individual work product production, maintaining an excellent reputation of quality
- Collaborate with other team members in a manner that assists with rapid identification and escalation to Supervisor of any client, team member or operational challenges
Operations

Qualifications & Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or 5 years of related work experience and no degree.
- Phase I ESAs and PCAs following ASTM guidelines
- Experience with assessment, remediation and compliance with the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) regulatory programs (e.g. LUST, SRP) as well as other relevant regulatory agencies within the region
- OSHA-10 or OSHA-30 certification
- Health & Safety Certification pursuant to OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 (HAZWOPER 40 Hour)
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in English
- Strong technical report writing skills in English
- Ability/willingness for frequent travel for field work (valid driver’s license required)
- Working proficiency with office applications - MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Ability to walk job sites during inspections, sometimes on uneven terrain, climbing of ladders to access and evaluate roofing conditions and roof-mounted equipment, and carry field testing equipment (up to 30 pounds) onto job site

- Experience in providing reliable work product review as assigned
- Able to communicate effectively (written and verbal) with co-workers and Supervisors, and clients, subcontractors, and vendors as assigned
