Job Summary:

The Environmental Specialist is responsible for performing and supporting environmental, compliance, and operational analytical testing in a laboratory setting. This role requires a strong scientific background, proficiency in analytical laboratory techniques, and a dedication to safety, quality, and operational excellence. The specialist will work with various analytical methods and instrumentation to ensure accurate and reliable test results.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform environmental, compliance, and operational analytical testing following established laboratory procedures.
  • Maintain safe working conditions by identifying, reporting, and correcting unsafe practices.
  • Conduct laboratory analyses using approved methods and instrumentation.
  • Apply quality control protocols to ensure compliance with testing standards.
  • Utilize and interpret EPA, ASTM, Standard Methods, and other reference standards.
  • Follow and develop technical Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistent laboratory analysis.
  • Evaluate and verify analytical data for accuracy and completeness.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with analytical instrumentation.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, external stakeholders, and customers effectively.
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities to meet deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance laboratory performance.
Required Skills & Certifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related scientific discipline.
  • Minimum of 15 semester hours of chemistry coursework.
  • Knowledge of EPA, ASTM, Standard Methods, and other analytical reference standards.
  • Ability to understand and execute technical laboratory procedures and methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including troubleshooting laboratory equipment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective teamwork and customer interaction.
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and adapt.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and operational excellence.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
  • Experience with analytical reference methods and laboratory instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of quality control requirements for analytical methods.
  • Hands-on experience with Gas Chromatography (GC) instrumentation.
  • Previous experience in an environmental or analytical laboratory setting.
  • Competencies in technical writing, quality assurance, customer focus, and team collaboration.

  • Ability to work in a laboratory environment requiring attention to detail and compliance with SOPs.
