Environmental Health & Safety Specialist III

Location: Redmond, Oregon

Compensation: $90,000-$100,000 + Annual Incentive Program

Employment Type: Full-time

Shift: Monday-Friday 6am-3pm


About the Company

HireIQ Solutions is leading the search for an Environmental Health & Safety Specialist III at a US manufacturer of engineered-to-order HVAC and thermal management systems serving mission-critical environments such as data centers, cleanrooms, and complex commercial/industrial applications. The company designs, fabricates, and tests highly customized equipment in-house and continues to invest in operational excellence, compliance, and employee safety as it scales its manufacturing capabilities.


About the Role

This is a senior-level EHS role responsible for leading complex safety and environmental initiatives, providing technical expertise, and driving continuous improvement across the organization. You will serve as a key advisor to management on environmental, health, and safety matters while helping ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements. The role also carries strong influence in building and reinforcing a proactive safety culture, supporting incident prevention, and mentoring junior EHS staff.


Key Responsibilities

• Lead comprehensive safety and environmental audits and risk assessments.

• Develop and implement advanced EHS programs, policies, and procedures.

• Serve as a subject matter expert on OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulatory requirements.

• Lead investigations of serious incidents and ensure effective corrective and preventive actions.

• Analyze EHS data and trends to identify risks and improvement opportunities.

• Coordinate with Engineering and Operations to integrate safety into equipment, process, and facility design.

• Represent the company during regulatory inspections and external audits.

• Mentor and train junior EHS staff and support their development.

• Provide strategic support to EHS leadership and help strengthen compliance and safety performance across the site.


Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• 4+ years of relevant EHS experience.

• Master’s degree is preferred.

• CSP, CIH, or CHMM certification is preferred.

• Experience in HVAC or industrial manufacturing is preferred.

• Expert knowledge of EHS regulations and best practices.

• Proven ability to lead projects and influence cross-functional teams.

• Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.

• Experience with EHS software and data analysis tools.

• Ability to manage complex compliance programs and reporting.


Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Work is performed in a combination of office, lab, and manufacturing settings.

• Exposure to noise, chemicals, and industrial machinery is expected in designated areas.

• Required use of PPE in applicable production and technical environments.

• Ability to conduct detailed inspections in industrial settings.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills for training, reporting, and investigations.

• Occasional lifting of equipment or materials up to 30 lbs.

• High mental focus required for regulatory interpretation, risk analysis, and incident response.

• Occasional travel and extended hours may be required during audits or incident investigations.
