Job Overview
The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager is a key plant leadership position within our Mocksville site, partnering closely with operational teams to lead site-wide EHS programs and ensure compliance with company standards and all local, state, and federal regulations. The position oversees EHS activities, policies, training, and prevention efforts that protect people, processes, and the environment. Beyond compliance, the EHS Manager brings deep EHS expertise and hands-on implementation experience, confidently navigating regulatory requirements and translating them into practical, shop-floor application. Serving as a trusted advisor, this leader engages the business in meaningful dialogue around risk, compliance, and continuous improvement. A core focus is driving a zero-incident safety culture-working directly with hourly teams and plant leaders to influence behavior, build ownership, and embed safety into daily operations, including waste management, contractor safety, audits, and emergency preparedness.
Success in this role requires a leader who can drive corrective actions and accountability through influence and collaboration-not authority-building buy-in, engagement, and sustained behavioral change across the site. The ideal candidate brings industrial manufacturing experience, preferably within heavy equipment, along with prior EHS leadership experience and strong working knowledge of environmental programs (hazardous waste and/or wastewater). Electrical safety knowledge is a plus. Leveraging a data-driven mindset, strong communication skills, and cross-functional partnership, this individual will deliver measurable improvements in both safety performance and culture in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
Culture & Relationship Leadership
Build positive, collaborative relationships at all levels of the site to foster a zero-incident safety culture and achieve EHS goals and objectives.
Coach and mentor supervisors and employees on safe work practices, hazard identification, and risk management, including establishing and leading a safety committee.
Policy & Program Implementation
Implement EHS policies, procedures, training, auditing, reporting, and tracking processes in compliance with Ingersoll Rand requirements and local, state, and federal regulations.
Build and manage contractor management and visitor safety/security programs.
Establish and maintain facility-specific management plans for hazardous and non-hazardous materials; audit treatment, storage, disposal, and recycling facilities.
Manage the safety data sheet (SDS) and new chemical request processes.
Incident Management & Risk Control
Lead incident and near-miss reporting; perform root cause analysis to determine corrective actions and prevent recurrence.
Evaluate non-standard tasks to identify risks and recommend corrective actions.
Complete risk assessments and recommend control measures for potential areas of concern.
Oversee the workers' compensation program, including managing transitional/accommodated duty and return-to-work programs.
Data, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
Enter, track, and analyze EHS data using established tools and processes to ensure accuracy.
Deliver timely reports on incidents, audits, environmental metrics, risk assessments, and EHS action items.
Lead and coordinate continuous process improvement initiatives to enhance safety performance.
Emergency Preparedness
Oversee the facility emergency response team, ensuring appropriate training in emergency response, spill response, disaster preparedness, and crisis management.
Ensure drills, equipment readiness, and clear communication of responsibilities to personnel.
