Forest Lawn is seeking a dedicated Environmental Compliance Director to lead the development, oversight, and continuous improvement of our environmental health and safety programs. In this key leadership role, you will guide initiatives that reduce organizational risk, ensure full compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations, and strengthen a culture of environmental responsibility across all operations.
What You'll Be Doing
Oversee the Environmental Compliance department.
Partners with A&E to ensure project developments meet environmental health and safety (EHS) regulations.
Responsible for managing all EHS compliance programs in the areas of occupational safety, air quality, water quality, waste management, hazardous materials, and land use.
Responsible for all abatement related project work including identification of abatement needs, project bidding, management, and oversight.
Monitors EHS regulatory developments, assesses the impact to the organizations operations, and develops plans to ensure compliance before new regulations go into effect.
Monitors Workers Compensation Injury data to identify trends and implement corrective action to reduce injury rate.
Key participant in the organizations sustainability initiatives.
Responsible for all storm water related compliance, including the Construction and Municipal requirements that apply to our Parks and projects.
Oversees the coordination of the attainment of all safety metric goals throughout the organization.
Evaluates safety plan and compliance progress.
Oversees the filing of required reports.
Identifies all current and potential environmental risks and takes appropriate measures to eliminate or control them.
Determines occupational safety and health training requirements, develops and oversees appropriate training for employees.
Audits safety plan progress and compliance progress across the company.
Maintains consistent involvement in specific safety or environmental concerns at all facilities.
Responds to complaints, conducts investigations, and recommends solutions to minimize safety and health problems.
Performs and presents environmental analyses and develops business cases for projects.
Directs planning and establishing of department schedules and follows up performance against estimates.
Collaborates with marketing, communications, government relations, and other teams to ensure awareness of the organization's environmental initiatives.
Ensures compliance with environmental regulations.
Oversees the investigation of safety and medical-related incidences, provides assessments of environmental complaints, and establishes preventative measures.
Ensures that programs are in place to identify safety hazards and respond to complaints.
Recommends new policies or procedures, as necessary.
Oversees preparation and control of departmental annual budget.
May represent company in dealings with governmental officials enforcing environmental and safety regulations.
Responsible for overseeing the noted areas of Environmental Health and Safety as noted within the required experience section of this job description.
Understand and remain abreast of Resource Agency Permitting requirements (ACOE, CDFW, RWQCB, USFWS).
Select and hire employees for open positions. Provide performance management as needed.
Maintain effective communication with employees and management.
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university in Environmental, Health, and Safety, Environmental Science, Occupational Health or related field.
A valid California Driver's License, including state required levels of active auto insurance is required.
CSP (Certified Safety Professional) Certification required.
8-10 years' experience in an Environmental Health and Safety management position.
Experience leading a team of EHS professionals.
Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with others.
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Ability to work in a team environment, handle multiple tasks and have a flexible attitude.
Good organizational skills.
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
Strong Cal-Osha Program experience required.

REHS (Registered Environmental Health Specialist)
CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist (we use outside consultants for CIH required work)
CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager)
CPP (Certified Permitting Professional with SCAQMD)
QSP (Qualified SWPPP Practitioner with Construction Storm water)
QSD (Qualified SWPPP Developer with Construction Storm water)
QEP (Qualified Environmental Professional)

Drug Testing Policy
