    Description

    Lead compliance, reduce risk, and elevate culture

    We’re seeking an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Compliance Manager to own program design and execution at our California R&D/production facility. You’ll partner with operations and engineering to ensure regulatory compliance, mitigate risk, and build a proactive culture of safety and environmental responsibility.

    What you’ll do

    • Create and continuously improve site EHS programs, procedures, and documentation.
    • Own compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and local regulations; maintain permits and certifications.
    • Run routine audits, inspections, and risk assessments; implement corrective and preventive measures.
    • Administer hazardous materials and waste programs, reporting, handling, and Hazardous Materials Business Plan updates.
    • Drive ISO 14001/45001 conformance and support internal/external audit activities.
    • Chair the Safety Committee and amplify employee engagement in EHS initiatives.
    • Deliver training to employees, contractors, and visitors.
    • Investigate incidents/near‑misses using root‑cause tools (fishbone, 5‑Whys) and close out actions.
    • Conduct JHAs/JSAs with production/engineering; implement engineering and administrative controls and PPE.
    • Select, manage, and train on PPE; verify availability and compliance in use.
    • Contribute to ISO‑aligned quality improvements and keep work areas orderly and compliant.
    • Share best practices across sites and collaborate with HQ on companywide EHS strategy.
    • Review and update mandated permits on a defined cadence.

    What you’ll bring

    Education & Experience

    • Bachelor’s in a related discipline (environmental sciences, OSH, industrial hygiene, etc.); equivalent mix of education/certifications/experience considered.
    • Desired credentials: CSP, CIH, CHMM, OSHA‑30, HAZWOPER.
    • 3–5+ years in similar EHS roles; high‑volume manufacturing experience is preferred.
    • Strong background with ISO 14001 & 45001; Auditor/Lead Auditor preferred.

    Skills & knowledge

    • Thorough command of OSHA/EPA/DOT and applicable state/local regulations.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication; Spanish language skills are a plus.
    • Proven ability to author reports, policies, procedures, and training content.
    • Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint proficiency.

    Working Conditions / Hours

    Full‑time, salaried‑exempt position. May require extended hours and occasional weekends to meet critical program milestones and customer requirements.

    Work Environment and Physical Requirements

    • Navigate office and manufacturing settings throughout the day.
    • Frequent computer use while seated for extended periods.
    • Regular movement between desk and production spaces to collaborate and execute tasks.
    • Exposure to higher noise levels, moving mechanical parts, nuisance dust, and hazardous materials associated with production.
    • Periodic work on stairs, ladders, platforms, or other elevated/awkward positions.
    • PPE is supplied and must be worn as required.
    • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs independently and more than 50 lbs with assistance on occasion.

    Bonus points for

    • Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Certification familiarity
    • Hands‑on ISO 9001 experience
    • Workplace Safety & EHS program leadership
    • Experience measuring and improving LTIR
