The Field Technician supports environmental assessment and monitoring activities on military bases, focusing on air, soil, and water quality. This role contributes to large-scale environmental studies and long-term monitoring programs that control and maintain contaminants, helping to minimize hazardous risks on site and in surrounding communities. Responsibilities

• Assess environmental conditions on base and clearly document and report findings from various environmental assessments.
• Collect and provide air, soil, and water sampling results for environmental testing and monitoring programs.
• Support large-scale environmental studies on base to develop long-term monitoring (LTM) programs for containing and maintaining contaminants.
• Help design and implement measures that minimize hazardous risks in surrounding areas and on site.
• Perform environmental field work related to sewage, stormwater, landfill operations, and various discharge studies.
• Participate in environmental monitoring for wastewater and wastewater treatment systems, including associated infrastructure.
• Conduct field inspections related to construction, construction inspection, sewer systems, utility construction, manholes, and water mains.
• Contribute to projects involving water, wastewater, and stormwater systems, including treatment facilities, transmission and collection systems, pump stations, and drainage systems.
• Serve as a liaison between the client and the internal project team, ensuring clear, consistent communication and coordination.
• Mediate conversations between the client and the internal team, providing strong client-facing communication and professional representation.
• Collaborate with team members in the field, traveling together to project sites and contributing to a team-oriented workday.
• Support compliance with environmental, civil, and safety standards during field activities and inspections.
• Document field activities, observations, and test results accurately and in a timely manner for project records and reporting.
• Travel to various naval bases around the country for site visits that may last up to two weeks at a time, depending on project size and complexity.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in the environmental industry or a closely related field.
• Hands-on experience in environmental field work, including sampling and monitoring activities.
• Experience with environmental monitoring for sewage, stormwater, landfill operations, and various discharge studies.
• Experience in construction or construction inspection related to sewer systems, utility construction, manholes, and water mains.
• Knowledge of environmental testing methods for air, soil, and water.
• Familiarity with wastewater and wastewater treatment systems and related infrastructure.
• Understanding of civil and environmental engineering concepts as they relate to field inspections and monitoring.
• Experience working on NAVFAC projects or similar large-scale, multi-site environmental projects.
• Ability to communicate clearly and confidently in a client-facing role, acting as a liaison between client and project team.
• Strong reporting skills, including the ability to document findings and present results in a clear, professional manner.
• Willingness and ability to travel across the country to various naval bases for multi-day or multi-week assignments.
• Commitment to safe work practices in the field, including adherence to OSHA-related safety principles.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with environmental engineering or civil engineering projects involving water, wastewater, and stormwater systems.
• Exposure to treatment facilities, transmission and collection systems, pump stations, and drainage systems.
• Knowledge of landfill operations, stormwater systems, and environmental monitoring for various discharge points.
• Familiarity with wastewater treatment processes and environmental compliance requirements.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with clients and internal team members.

Work Environment

The Field Technician works in a field-focused, team-oriented environment alongside water, wastewater, and stormwater professionals. The role involves daily travel to project sites, often starting the day by meeting at a central location and riding in a company truck with team members to the field. Work takes place on active bases and at facilities such as treatment plants, transmission and collection systems, pump stations, drainage systems, and related infrastructure. The position requires regular travel across the country to various naval bases, with site visits lasting up to two weeks at a time depending on project size and complexity. The team is small and collaborative, offering close interaction with colleagues and opportunities for mentorship and growth. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Jacksonville, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $36.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
