Environmental Engineer (On-site)

Our client is seeking an Environmental Engineer II for an onsite position in Radford, Virginia. This role will support environmental compliance activities within a large, fast-paced chemical manufacturing environment.

• Ensure compliance with federal and state environmental regulations, permits, and consent decrees.
• Prepare and submit routine environmental reports, including hazardous waste biennial reports, Tier II reports, and Toxic Release Inventory Form R reports.
• Support compliance with the Toxic Substances Control Act and Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act requirements.
• Coordinate with operations departments regarding central accumulation areas, satellite accumulation areas, and hazardous and non-hazardous waste management.
• Prepare and submit environmental permit applications and modifications.
• Interface with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with applicable environmental requirements.
• Participate in environmental audits and regulatory inspections.
• Collect environmental samples and complete related documentation, including chains of custody.
• Identify and use appropriate sample storage containers and handling procedures.
• Provide environmental compliance training as needed.
• Conduct and support routine compliance inspections.
• Complete special assignments and additional tasks as directed.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or another environmental or STEM-related discipline.
• At least two years of related environmental experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations, reporting, permitting, and waste-management practices.
• Ability to work effectively on a multidisciplinary and diverse team.
• Ability to support operations in a fast-paced, large-scale chemical manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and environmental reporting and monitoring software.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in an environmental-related discipline.
• Five or more years of experience with state environmental reporting, permit maintenance, compliance monitoring, and hazardous waste management.
• Experience managing and monitoring universal and non-hazardous waste.
• Familiarity with Virginia Department of Environmental Quality regulations and personnel.
• Wastewater compliance experience.
• Environmental permit-writing experience.
• Government compliance or government-client experience.
• Certified Hazardous Materials Manager certification.
• Engineer-in-Training or Engineer Intern certification, or Professional Engineer licensure.

Pay Range: $52.00 - $57.00 per hour (Depending on experience and qualifications)
