Our client, an environmental services company based in Jersey City, is hiring an Environmental Compliance Specialist to manage regulatory compliance programs across its industrial and municipal client accounts. This role involves reviewing site operations for adherence to federal, state, and local environmental regulations, preparing permit applications, and coordinating remediation efforts when violations are identified.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with environmental permitting, air and water quality standards, and hazardous waste management protocols. This position works closely with facility managers, government regulators, and internal engineering teams to ensure projects meet all applicable environmental codes.
This is a full-time, on-site position offering the opportunity to work on a range of projects spanning brownfield redevelopment, industrial permitting, and municipal infrastructure compliance.
Responsibilities
- Conduct environmental compliance audits at client facilities
- Prepare and submit permit applications to state and federal agencies
- Monitor air, water, and soil quality data against regulatory thresholds
- Develop corrective action plans for compliance violations
- Maintain records for EPA and NJDEP reporting requirements
- Coordinate with third-party labs for sample testing and analysis
- Train facility staff on regulatory requirements and best practices
- Track changes in environmental legislation affecting client operations
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field
- Minimum four years of experience in environmental compliance or regulatory affairs
- Working knowledge of RCRA, CWA, CAA, and NJDEP regulations
- Experience preparing permit applications and compliance reports
- Strong written communication skills for regulatory documentation
- Ability to travel to client sites across New Jersey
- Proficiency with environmental data management software
- Valid driver's license required
