Position Details:
Salary Range: $97,769.00 - $119,480.00 Annually + Excellent Benefits
- Generally, salary placement is at the beginning of the salary range.
- Advanced placement may be granted depending on related education and experience.
Status: Full‑time, Limited-Term (2 years)
Schedule: 9/80 work schedule with alternating Friday off
Minimum Qualifications:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Education/Training:
- Equivalent to a Bachelor''s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in environmental science, chemistry, biology, or a related field.
Experience:
- Three years of increasingly responsible environmental compliance program experience, including some administrative level experience.
Licenses or Certificates:
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver's license.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a California Water Environment Association (CWEA) Grade II Environmental Compliance Inspector certificate within one year.

Job Description:
Environmental Compliance Programs Analyst
Ideal Candidate:
The Ideal Candidate Will Possess:
- College‑level coursework in environmental science, chemistry, biology, water resource management, or a related field
- A solid understanding of environmental regulations, including water conservation and efficiency, stormwater, wastewater pretreatment, hazardous materials/waste, and solid waste and recycling
- Experience interpreting and applying federal, state, and local environmental rules, policies, and standards
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear, accurate, and comprehensive technical reports
- Experience responding to water waste, illicit discharge, odor, or hazardous materials complaints in both public and private settings
- The ability to handle complex, unusual, or sensitive situations with professionalism, tact, and sound judgment
- A high level of dependability, initiative, and follow‑through, with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with City staff, businesses, residents, and partner agencies
- Strong organizational and analytical skills, including experience with data collection, chain‑of‑custody protocols, and regulatory reporting
- A positive attitude and eagerness to learn, adapt, and support programs that protect Simi Valley's natural resources
