Position Summary : Environmental Services Aide (Male or Female) has direct responsibility for providing a clean, friendly and safe environment for the patients and visitors of Wyckoff Heights Medical Center.

 

  •  Must possess the manual ability to perform such tasks as sweeping, mopping, dusting,  scrubbing, wiping, polishing and moving furniture.
  • High dusts and wipes clean using germicidal solution on all vents, light fixture, ceiling tiles, doors,furniture, equipment, telephones, TV's, window sills, trash receptacles, beds and mattresses. 
  •   Washes clean all bath tubs, sinks, showers, and toilets.

 

  •  Replenishes all supplies including soap, paper towels, and toilets as required.  May also change drapery, shades, cubicle curtains, and shower curtains.
  • Vacuums carpeted areas of hospital and walk-off mats at entrance areas as well as elevator tracks.  Cleans all glass in hospital including mirrors and partitions.
  •  Collects all trash and refuse from any size container in patient rooms, utility rooms and offices. 
  •  Bags and stores the trash at designated areas for disposal in compactor. Trash may include  regulated medical waste and may change sharps containers.
  •   Be knowledgeable of mixing all chemicals properly such as stripper, all purpose, germicide, glass cleaner and carpet care chemicals.
  •  Sweeps floors with treated dust mops, cleans corners, edges and baseboards, extract and buff hard flooring surfaces as well as shampooing of carpeted areas.
  •  Uses automatic equipment such as buffers, auto scrubbers, and wet vacuums, to strip, scrub.
  •  May be assigned to other areas of the hospital.  Manager has discretion to move any employee to a different assigned area due to needs of the facility.
  •  May be assigned to move supplies, equipment, furniture and patients in beds, throughout the hospital.
  • May be called upon to clean grounds of litter and trash.  During inclement weather, may be called upon for removal of snow (I.e., shoveling, salting, and snow plowing).
  •  Maintains and cleans all equip. in Janitors closets to sanitary condition. Must participate in all in-  services, method of wk. training and all other training classes nec. for safety of oneself and facility.  Employee must provide sign. for attend. Sheet.
  • Performs all moving jobs within and on hospital grounds.
  •  Helps set up meetings and other related activities.
  •  Be knowledgeable of an adhere to the policies set forth in the Wyckoff Heights Medical Center administrative policies and procedures manual.
  • Performs all other duties as required.

 

   Formal Education and Job-Related Experience  This position prefers a minimum formal education of High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of less than 6 mos. job-related experience.

 

  Desired (not required) criteria include:  Prior experience in a hospital related environment. Sufficient  physical strength to perform strenuous custodial activities.

 

  Comments  High School Diploma or Equivalent Preferred.
