Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Environmental Services Manager , the Environmental Services Specialist performs custodial, janitorial, and facility maintenance duties that help maintain the University's classrooms, laboratories, offices, public spaces, and campus facilities. This role plays an essential part in supporting student success by ensuring a clean, healthy, and safe learning environment.

What You'll Do

As a member of the USCB Facilities team, you will:

• Maintain clean, sanitary, and safe classrooms, offices, laboratories, auditoriums, shops, and common areas.
• Sweep, mop, scrub, wax, polish, and vacuum a variety of flooring surfaces.
• Clean and disinfect restrooms while replenishing supplies and maintaining related fixtures.
• Clean windows, chalkboards, blinds, storage areas, and custodial spaces.
• Remove trash, recycling, cardboard, and other waste materials.
• Operate custodial equipment including vacuums, wet/dry vacuums, floor buffers, auto scrubbers, and blowers.
• Maintain organized custodial carts, closets, and cleaning supplies.
• Follow established safety procedures and security protocols.
• Communicate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and visitors while providing outstanding customer service.

Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience

Typically holds a high school diploma or GED. Requires 1 or more years of job related experience.

Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a university or large institution.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Knowledge of standard cleaning techniques and characteristics of surfaces to be cleaned.

• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Ability to perform repeated bending, stooping, lifting, reaching activities. I.e. pushing/pulling fully loaded custodial carts, reaching to clean blackboards, bending and stooping to do spot cleaning, empty trash cans, etc.
• Ability to read, speak, and understand at a level appropriate to the position.
• Good interpersonal communication skills.
• Excellent customer skills. Ability to get along with a diverse campus community.
• Ability to operate power cleaning equipment.
• Use custodial systems such as those to track work orders and two -way radios for communication
• Ability to organize work assignments and custodial closets

• Sweeps, scrubs, mops, waxes, polishes, and vacuums floors.
• Cleans/disinfects classroom, offices, auditoriums, shops, custodial closets, storage areas, laboratories, chalkboards, windows and venetian blinds.
• Cleans/disinfects/maintains lavatories and all related equipment including but not limited to waterless urinals as required and replenish supplies and materials.
