Overview

We are seeking a Senior Safety Engineer to lead safety and environmental initiatives within a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for driving a proactive safety culture, ensuring compliance with regulations, and implementing programs that protect employees and support sustainable operations.

This position offers the opportunity for direct hire or contract-to-hire, with strong growth potential for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and promote a proactive safety culture focused on preventing incidents and reducing risk
  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety and environmental programs aligned with regulatory and company standards
  • Conduct safety training for employees, contractors, and visitors on policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Perform job hazard analyses and ergonomic assessments to identify risks and recommend improvements
  • Analyze incident and loss data to identify root causes and implement corrective actions
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other applicable regulations
  • Support and maintain ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards and certifications
  • Participate in incident investigations and develop preventive safety measures
  • Conduct audits and inspections to ensure adherence to safety programs
  • Coordinate emergency response planning and implementation
  • Maintain records, reporting, and documentation required for compliance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Safety, Health & Environment or related field
  • 5+ years of safety and environmental experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to influence and build a strong safety culture
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work effectively in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading safety initiatives in industrial or manufacturing settings
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and audit processes
  • Experience with safety training program development
