Join Our Team!We are currently seeking experienced Welder/Fitters to join a busy shipyard operation in Moss Point, MS. If you have structural fitting experience and enjoy working in a fast-paced maritime environment, we want to hear from you!
Job Responsibilities
- Remove steel plates from vessels using a washout tip.
- Cut, fit, and prepare steel plates for welding.
- Bevel plates for structural weld joints using a washout tip.
- Install structural attachments including saddles, eye pads, and hangers capable of supporting heavy loads.
- Set up and operate SMAW welding equipment.
- Perform welding using 6010 and/or 7018 electrodes.
- Safely operate acetylene torch washout tips.
- Follow all shipyard safety procedures and quality standards.
Key Requirements:
- Minimum 1-2 years of Welder Fitter or Structural Fitter experience or recent welding graduate.
- Experience in a shipyard or heavy industrial environment preferred.
- Ability to set up and operate SMAW welding equipment.
- Proficient using 6010 and/or 7018 welding rods.
- Experience using an acetylene torch washout tip.
- Ability to read measurements and perform accurate fit-up work.
- Dependable with a strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
