Job Title: Entry-Level Precision Machinist
Location: Rochester, NY

Summary: Nesco Resource is partnering with a manufacturing company to hire a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Precision Machinist to learn and support precision machining operations. This opportunity is ideal for candidates looking to develop hands-on manufacturing skills while learning to operate machinery, use measuring instruments, and produce components to precise dimensions and tolerances. On-the-job training will help qualified candidates build their skills using equipment such as lathes, milling machines, and surface grinders. Previous precision machining experience is preferred but limited experience may be considered. Candidates with a strong work ethic, mechanical aptitude, and willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.

Pay Rate:

• Pay rate to be determined.

Shift:

• A Shift: Monday – Friday | 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM | 40 hours per week
• B Shift: Monday – Friday | 1:00 PM – 11:00 PM | 50 hours per week
  • Training: All new hires must complete approximately one month of training on A Shift, regardless of their assigned shift.
  • Overtime: A Shift overtime is voluntary. But can be mandatory according to company needs.

Job Duties:

• Learn to set up and operate appropriate machinery to produce specified dimensions and finishes
• Work with a variety of materials, including metals, alloys, plastics, and wood
• Learn to use measuring instruments to verify dimensions and maintain close tolerances
• Train on precision machining equipment, including lathes, milling machines, and surface grinders
• Follow work instructions and established machining procedures
• Inspect finished components to ensure they meet quality requirements
• Maintain attention to detail throughout the production process
• Follow established safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Maintain product quality in accordance with company standards
• Complete assigned work in a timely manner while supporting production schedules
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Zero to two years of precision machining experience
• Basic computer skills
• Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work
• Ability to learn new equipment, processes, and measurement techniques
• Positive attitude, accountability, and willingness to take initiative
• Self-motivated with a commitment to continuous improvement
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Willingness to work overtime and flexible shifts as needed
• Commitment to workplace safety and product quality

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to safely operate and work around manufacturing machinery
• Ability to handle materials and components as required for machining operations
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to remain focused while working with precision equipment and measuring instruments

Education/Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Zero to two years of precision machining experience
• Some knowledge of optics preferred
• On-the-job training provided to develop machining and equipment operation skills

Other:

• Full-time opportunity
• Overtime may be required with short notice, including weekends
• Occasional second- or third-shift work may be required
• Must be willing to learn new processes and support changing production needs
