Your impact

At Jacobs, we're challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world's most critical infrastructure and building design challenges. As an Entry-Level Mechanical Engineer within our Cities & Places team, you will support the planning, design, and delivery of innovative building systems for a variety of markets, including commercial, healthcare, higher education, government, science, and technology facilities.

Working alongside experienced engineers and multidisciplinary project teams, you'll have the opportunity to develop your technical skills, contribute to meaningful projects, and grow your career in a collaborative environment focused on professional development and technical excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design and analysis of mechanical building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and related infrastructure.
  • Assist in preparing engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Develop and modify design drawings and models using Revit and other engineering software tools.
  • Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, electrical engineers, and other project stakeholders.
  • Participate in site visits, field investigations, and construction support activities.
  • Assist with equipment selection, system layouts, and energy-efficient design solutions.
  • Support project managers and senior engineers with project delivery tasks, schedules, and technical documentation.
  • Ensure designs are developed in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
  • Contribute to a positive team culture focused on safety, quality, and innovation.

Here's what you'll need

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 0-2 years of relevant engineering experience, including internships, co-ops, or academic project experience.
  • Familiarity with or exposure to Revit through coursework, internships, projects, or professional experience.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical building systems and engineering principles.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain shortly after hire.
  • Internship or co-op experience related to building systems, consulting engineering, or facility design.
  • Exposure to HVAC load calculations, energy modeling, or sustainable design principles.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or other design and coordination tools.
  • Interest in pursuing professional licensure (PE).

Posted Salary Range: Minimum

62,500.00

Posted Salary Range: Upper

88,000.00

The base salary range for this position is $62,500.00 to $88,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
