Junior staff work alongside experienced professionals, team members are encouraged to explore new opportunities and relationships, and we actively work together to balance workloads and meet project deadlines.About The Role:As an Entry-Level Industrial Hygienist, you will help promote healthier, safer workplaces by identifying and evaluating potential environmental and occupational hazards. You'll support projects from initial field assessment through reporting and final deliverables while building practical experience in industrial hygiene consulting.Perform Hazardous Material Evaluations: Carry out on-site assessments for asbestos, lead-based paint, and indoor air quality using established protocols. Gather samples, follow quality assurance practices, and review resulting data to confirm accuracy and completeness.Produce High-Quality Reports: Create clear, comprehensive reports for small to mid-sized assignments, presenting conclusions and actionable recommendations. Work with senior reviewers to ensure alignment with standards and technical expectations.Support Project Scopes and Proposals: Define project parameters, estimate costs, and prepare written proposals with straightforward technical requirements. Support client engagement and contribute to winning new work.Assist in Business Development Activities: Represent the firm in local industry groups, participate in committees, and join senior personnel during client meetings to enhance relationships and broaden visibility in the marketplace.About You:You have a Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety and Health, or other related sciences You have 0-2 years of industrial hygiene field sampling experienceYou have active industry-related certifications a plus, such as:NC certified Asbestos InspectorAir Sampler or Monitor accreditationYou have good business and technical writing skillsYou Are Willing and Able to:Perform the physical demands of the position with the use of company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as:Working outdoors in varying weather conditionsRoutinely lifting and carrying 40- 50 lbs (field/laboratory samples and equipment)Working outside of normal business hours when necessaryAt S&ME, we have a history of delivering innovative geotechnical, civil, environmental, and construction material testing for over 50 years.
