Job Description
NNL is seeking an Associate Compliance Engineer in the Environmental Remediation program area, which is part of the Environmental Operations and Remediation (EOR) unit. The EOR unit is comprised of subject matter experts in environmental remediation, radiological environmental monitoring, and compliance sampling at the Knolls Laboratory and Kesselring Site.
The primary function of this position is supporting the implementation of the NYS Resource Conservation and Recovery Act Corrective Action programs at the Knolls Laboratory and Kesselring Sites. This position involves working closely with an experienced team on the performance of environmental investigations, environmental monitoring, contaminant fate and transport assessment, remedy selection and evaluation, remediation construction, waste management, and regulatory compliance. Also, the position provides support for directing assessment and remediation of historical petroleum spills. In addition, successful candidates will provide support in maintaining the necessary contracts for the implementation of these programs. The position involves frequent interface with external regulatory agencies (e.g., NYSDEC, NYSDOH, and EPA). This position offers significant opportunity from growth and advancement.
Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field.
Preferred Skills
• Involvement with Environmental Investigation and Remediation projects in New York State, preferably under the RCRA Corrective Action program.
• Past experience with environmental investigation and remediation projects, including applied fieldwork/environmental sampling experience.
• Demonstrated oral and written communication and technical writing skills.
• Experienced in the reduction and assessment of inorganic and organic chemical analytical data (especially emerging contaminants (i.e., PFAS)) in various environmental media.
• HAZWOPER Qualification with current 8-hour refreshers.
• Educational background in geology, hydrogeology, environmental science, or environmental engineering.

Pay Range
$63,900.00 - $97,800.00 annually
