The successful candidate will perform field inspection and office engineering duties, including interpreting construction plans and specifications, overseeing materials testing, reviewing documentation, and preparing reports. Experience with NJDOT or NJ Turnpike Authority projects is highly desirable.This is an on-site position requiring daily field presence. The role involves outdoor work in varying conditions and flexibility to accommodate night shifts and occasional weekend assignments based on project requirements.ResponsibilitiesPerform field inspections on highway, bridge, airport, and transportation infrastructure construction projectsMonitor contractor activities to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, safety requirements, and quality standardsRead and interpret engineering plans, drawings, specifications, and contract documentsPrepare daily inspection reports, field documentation, and project recordsAssist with Office Engineer responsibilities, including reviewing construction documentation and coordinating project informationCoordinate with Resident Engineers, project managers, contractors, and client agenciesSupport materials testing, quality assurance, and project closeout documentation as requiredWork on-site daily, with availabilityQualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering requiredAbility to read and interpret construction plans, drawings, specifications, and technical documentsStrong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skillsStrong attention to detail and problem-solving skillsWillingness to work outdoors in an active construction environmentValid driver's license with reliable transportationAbility to work flexible hours, including nights, overtime, and occasional weekends as project needs requirePreferred QualificationsInternship, co-op, or up to two (2) years of experience supporting transportation, highway, bridge, airport, or heavy civil infrastructure projectsExposure to construction inspection, field engineering, materials testing, or office engineeringOSHA 10 certificationNJACI (New Jersey ACI Concrete Certification)NJSAT (New Jersey Subsurface Aggregate Technician)NICET Level I, II, or III certificationTraffic Control Coordinator (TCC) certificationCertified Construction Technologist (CCTC) certificationBenefitsPay TransparencyThe base salary (or hourly rate) range for this role is indicated in the posting.
