    Highlights

You'll partner with the Workfront/Fusion automation team to keep intake-to-build workflows running smoothly, using AI-assisted monitoring to flag sync errors, field drift, and deliverability problems before they affect a send. Where similar platform-ops roles elsewhere are stuck maintaining legacy setups, you'll actively use AI to automate intake-to-activation workflows and catch data-quality issues before they become incidents, not just clean up after them.

    Description

    What You'll Do:

Avalara's Marketing Automation team enables campaign execution without sacrificing data integrity, and this role owns the architecture behind that speed: the Marketo Engage platform that our email Marketing and Inquiry processing relies on. Reporting into our Marketing Technology IT teams, you'll be the person who ensures Marketo is operating within best practices and keeps Salesforce and Marketo data trustworthy for the whole revenue team. Where similar platform-ops roles elsewhere are stuck maintaining legacy setups, you'll actively use AI to automate intake-to-activation workflows and catch data-quality issues before they become incidents, not just clean up after them. What Your Responsibilities Will Be:

Most days you'll be building and refining program-shell templates, exploring new integrations and enforcing data hygiene standards across dedupe, segmentation, and consent fields. You'll partner with the Workfront/Fusion automation team to keep intake-to-build workflows running smoothly, using AI-assisted monitoring to flag sync errors, field drift, and deliverability problems before they affect a send. You'll also document playbooks and train marketers on self-serve guardrails, increasingly using AI to draft QA checklists and RCA reports so incidents get resolved faster. Day to day, you're working inside Marketo, Salesforce, reporting tools like Snowflake to keep planning, execution, and attribution connected.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Design and maintain program-shell blueprints, tags, and status taxonomies; publish and evolve standards.
    • Own Marketo admin: users/roles, partitions, workspaces, foldering, asset and snippet libraries.
    • Integrate with Workfront/Fusion to automate intakebuild workflows; measure build time and error rates.
    • Maintain SFDC sync mapping, MSI setup, and error handling; resolve schema changes and field drift fast.
    • Define reporting fields/UTM conventions to link planningexecutionattribution; partner on Snowflake/BI.
    • Monitor platform health; lead RCAs and preventive fixes for sync, send, and data-quality incidents.
    • Create and maintain playbooks: campaign QA, go-live checklists, deliverability/IP warming, and rollback.
What You'll Need to be Successful:

    Required Qualifications

    • 6–8+ years hands-on in Marketo Engage administration and program architecture (channels/statuses, shells, QA).
    • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Management, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience demonstrating analytics, business operations, or technical program management.
    • Strong SalesforceMarketo integration experience (field mapping, MSI/Sales Connect, error triage).
    • Proven Workfront/Fusion or equivalent intakeautomation implementation experience.
    • Data governance: dedupe, normalization, segmentation, scoring, consent/subscription management.
    • Deliverability know-how (IP/domain practices, monitoring, remediation).
    • Excellent documentation, stakeholder communication, and enablement skills.
    • Marketo Certified Expert (MCE).
    • API/webhooks familiarity; database management practices, audits and reporting alignment.
    • Exposure to UTM strategy, taxonomy management, and analytics alignment.
    • Experience migrating from Eloqua or similar MAPs a plus.

    AI

    • –2+ years of hands-on experience applying AI tools to platform monitoring, documentation, or workflow automation.
    • Proven track record of supporting and enabling AI assisted workflows for content generation/asset creation flows
