To be considered qualified for the Enterprise Architect role, candidates must have demonstrated, hands on experience translating business and technology strategy into actionable architectural guidance, reusable patterns, and aligned roadmaps. The position requires prior success collaborating with senior business leaders, product teams, and technology stakeholders to drive architectural consistency, interoperability, and strategic alignment across programs and platforms. Candidates without direct experience performing these responsibilities in an enterprise context will not meet the qualification criteria for this position.
This position is remote but requires occasional travel to Maximus HQ or the Client site.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain enterprise data warehouse (EDW) architecture environments and data ingestion/integration development frameworks, including architecting elegant technical solutions that meet the business requirements while reducing operating expenses.
- Oversee architecture changes for all data ingestion solutions and provide technical advice on complex data mappings and transformations, including production support guidance, researching, and responding to security vulnerability findings, and working with multiple vendors and teams to leverage existing architecture components.
- Facilitate the creation of architectures that consider how the current system interacts with other internal and external systems and environments and ensure that the new system behaves and performs correctly, including: prioritizing backlog projects and coordinating with system and network administration personnel on maintenance, upgrades, changes, and performance needs.
- Mentor and transition architectural knowledge to team members and provide leadership and work guidance to less experienced personnel, including conducting quality assurance activities such as peer reviews. Provide adequate and timely acceptance criteria for new or enhanced data ingestion solutions and explain costs and efficiencies of backlog items to management and other stakeholders.
- Develop architectures that support the business requirements and provide assistance to the team in troubleshooting performance and system errors, including providing data analysis support, discovering and fixing data issues, and communicating with various stakeholders.
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field of study and 7+ years of relevant professional experience required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Job-Specific Minimum Requirements:
- Candidates must be U.S. Citizens with the ability to pass a clearance process for a position of Public Trust.
- 7+ years of experience across enterprise architecture domains (business, data, application, technology). 10 or more years of experience is strongly desired.
- Occasional Travel to Maximus HQ or Client site.
- Experience developing Python-based automation solutions and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) implementations to provision, manage, and maintain enterprise APIs, cloud infrastructure, and integration platforms, including expertise with CI/CD pipelines, DevSecOps practices, and API management technologies.
- Demonstrated experience designing architectures for complex systems and multi-program environments.
- Working knowledge of enterprise data architecture, metadata management, and data governance.
- Strong understanding of business processes, capability modeling, operating models, and strategic alignment.
- Experience developing technical roadmaps and supporting modernization initiatives.
- Ability to clearly communicate architectural guidance, risks, and recommendations.
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive alignment without formal authority.
- Experience contributing to or supporting enterprise architecture governance and standards.
