Position Overview:
The Enterprise Architect - Cloud & Infrastructure is responsible for supporting the development, maintenance, and execution of enterprise architecture strategy, standards, reference architectures, and technology roadmaps with a focus on cloud platforms, infrastructure services, hosting environments, network architecture, resiliency, and technology modernization. This role collaborates with enterprise architecture, infrastructure, cloud engineering, cybersecurity, application, data, and business teams to ensure technology solutions align with enterprise strategy, approved standards, security requirements, operational objectives, and long-term technology direction.
The Enterprise Architect contributes to architecture governance, cloud adoption planning, infrastructure modernization, application hosting strategy, technology lifecycle planning, and evaluation of emerging technologies. The role also serves as a key liaison between architects, engineers, business stakeholders, and vendors to promote standardization, scalability, resilience, security, operational supportability, and cost optimization.
Responsibilities:
- Support the definition, maintenance, and communication of enterprise architecture principles, standards, reference architectures, and design patterns focused on cloud and infrastructure services.
- Develop and maintain current-state, target-state, and transition-state architecture views across cloud, infrastructure, networking, compute, storage, backup, disaster recovery, and related domains.
- Create and maintain enterprise architecture artifacts including reference models, architecture patterns, technology roadmaps, hosting strategies, environment diagrams, and architecture decision records.
- Partner with business and technology teams to understand workload requirements, scalability goals, resiliency needs, security requirements, and operational constraints.
- Participate in solution architecture reviews to ensure compliance with enterprise standards, cloud architecture patterns, cybersecurity requirements, and approved technologies.
- Support Architecture Review Boards, Cloud Governance forums, Engineering Reviews, and Infrastructure Governance activities.
- Identify architecture gaps, technical debt, infrastructure risks, resiliency concerns, and modernization opportunities.
- Support application and infrastructure portfolio assessments including platform dependencies, lifecycle status, business criticality, and modernization planning.
- Assist in developing cloud and infrastructure roadmaps aligned with target-state architecture strategies.
- Evaluate cloud platforms, infrastructure technologies, managed services, automation tools, and emerging technologies.
- Support proof-of-concept and minimum viable product initiatives for cloud and infrastructure solutions.
- Maintain architecture information within enterprise architecture repositories and tools.
- Promote reuse, standardization, interoperability, security, automation, resiliency, and cost optimization across technology environments.
- Collaborate with cloud architects, infrastructure architects, solution architects, cybersecurity teams, application teams, and operations teams.
- Support standards exception reviews and document associated risks, mitigation strategies, and recommendations.
- Participate in technology investment planning, cloud adoption initiatives, infrastructure modernization programs, and portfolio planning activities.
- Provide recommendations related to cloud migration, workload placement, platform strategy, hosting decisions, and technology lifecycle management.
- Support cloud governance, cost optimization, service catalog management, and policy compliance efforts.
- Communicate architecture recommendations effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Stay current on cloud services, infrastructure platforms, emerging technologies, cybersecurity trends, automation practices, and industry best practices.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Technology, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, or a related field from an accredited college or university. Preferred Education
- Master's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Business Administration, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- Equivalent combinations of education, certifications, and relevant experience may be considered. Required Experience
- 10+ years of experience in Information Technology.
- 5+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, cloud architecture, infrastructure architecture, or network architecture.
- Experience supporting cloud, infrastructure, networking, hosting, platform engineering, or modernization initiatives.
- Working knowledge of enterprise architecture principles, frameworks, design patterns, standards, and governance processes.
- Strong understanding of cloud architecture, infrastructure services, networking, virtualization, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, and security controls.
- Experience developing architecture documentation including roadmaps, technical diagrams, integration models, infrastructure diagrams, and cloud architecture artifacts.
- Working knowledge in two or more of the following:

Preferred Experience:
- Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), hybrid cloud, private cloud, or multi-cloud experience.
- Data center modernization, cloud migration, workload rationalization, and infrastructure modernization initiatives.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, container platforms, and platform engineering.
- Technologies such as VMware, Windows Server, Linux, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Ansible, GitHub, or Azure DevOps.
- Network technologies including routing, firewalls, VPNs, DNS, segmentation, load balancing, private connectivity, and Zero Trust architectures.
- Cloud governance, FinOps practices, cloud cost optimization, cloud security, and policy management.
- Enterprise Architecture Management tools such as LeanIX, Ardoq, BiZZdesign, Sparx Enterprise Architect, Orbus, Apptio, or ServiceNow.
- ITSM, CMDB, Application Portfolio Management, Asset Management, or Technology Lifecycle Management experience.
- Experience working within regulated industries.
- Agile, SAFe, ITIL, DevOps, or product-based delivery model environments.
- Experience supporting Architecture Review Boards and Cloud Governance Boards.
