Job responsibilities may require work to be performed at all office/classroom sites, necessitating inter-building/campus travel. May be required to work on days and at times outside the normal schedule.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated knowledge of enterprise application data structures, relational databases, data mapping, reporting, analytics, and data validation. Ability to understand complex Colleague data relationships and translate functional requirements into accurate technical specifications. Ability and willingness to learn and support SAP Business Intelligence, Colleague Reporting and Operational Analytics, Ellucian Insights, Microsoft Power Automate, Power BI, Microsoft Copilot Studio, artificial intelligence tools, and similar technologies. Demonstrated analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, organizational, and project coordination skills. Ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and nontechnical audiences, manage multiple priorities, work independently and collaboratively, and provide responsive customer service. Must be willing to learn and support new software and technology environments as the College's computing environment changes.

Job Function

Provides enterprise application data analysis, reporting, and automation support for the Ellucian Colleague Student Information System and related College systems. Identifies, validates, and documents Colleague data elements used for reporting, interfaces, integrations, and institutional business processes.

Designs, develops, maintains, and troubleshoots reporting, analytics, dashboard, and automation solutions supporting the Colleges enterprise information systems and data platforms, including Ellucian Colleague (Unidata database) and Ellucian Student (PostgreSQL database). Supports and develops reporting and analytics capabilities utilizing Ellucian Insights Reporting, Analytics, and Dashboards and other business intelligence technologies. Supports and develops automation solutions using Microsoft Power BI, Power Automate, Copilot Studio, and similar technologies.

Job Responsibilities

COLLEAGUE DATA ANALYSIS AND REPORTING

  • Analyzes the Ellucian Colleague data structure and locates the appropriate data elements, files, fields, relationships, calculated fields, and selection criteria needed for interfaces, reports, dashboards, data extracts, and business processes.
  • Works with functional offices, application developers, report developers, vendors, and institutional staff to translate business questions and requirements into accurate Colleague data definitions and technical specifications.
  • Validates data definitions and results to ensure that reports, interfaces, extracts, and dashboards are accurate, complete, secure, and consistent with institutional standards.
  • Designs, develops, tests, documents, and troubleshoots operational reports and analytics for the student information system.
  • Supports SAP Business Intelligence and Colleague Reporting and Operational Analytics while assisting the College transition to Ellucian Insights Dashboards and Reporting.
  • Develops and maintains Ellucian Insights dashboards, reports, datasets, filters, calculations, and related reporting content.
  • Facilitates data extractions and interface data mapping, verifies the appropriateness and correctness of results, and assists with resolving data discrepancies.
  • Maintains data dictionaries, report specifications, field mappings, technical documentation, and reusable data definitions for enterprise applications.
  • Provides technical and problem-solving assistance and training to analysts, programmers, report developers, and end users in the use and interpretation of Colleague data and reporting tools.
  • Uses artificial intelligence (AI) and automation technologies to analyze data, streamline business processes, improve operational efficiency, and support the development of secure, effective enterprise solutions.
  • Uses the College's IT service management and ticketing system to document, prioritize, track, communicate, and resolve service requests, security access requests, incidents, and application support issues.
  • Act as a backup to the system administrator which has responsibilities that include system configuration, monitoring, disaster/recovery, troubleshooting, upgrades and ongoing maintenance of enterprise applications.

AUTOMATION TOOLS AND ENTERPRISE APPLICATION SUPPORT

  • Learns, evaluates, implements, supports, and troubleshoots automation tools used to improve College business processes and enterprise application services.
  • Creates and supports solutions using Microsoft Power Automate, Power BI, Microsoft Copilot Studio Agents, Ellucian Insights Dashboards and Reporting, and similar approved products.
  • Works with functional departments and Application Development staff to identify appropriate automation opportunities, define requirements, test solutions, and implement sustainable business processes.
  • Troubleshoots automation flows, dashboards, agents, connectors, data refreshes, permissions, and integrations; coordinates resolution with internal technical staff and vendors when needed.
  • Applies College governance, security, data, documentation, testing, change-control, and support standards to automation solutions and enterprise reporting products.
  • Creates technical playbooks, process documentation, user instructions, test plans, and support materials for reporting, security, and automation solutions.
  • Maintains current knowledge of Ellucian, Microsoft, artificial intelligence, reporting, automation, and enterprise application technologies and recommends practical ways for the College to use them.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, data analytics, business or management information systems, or related fields. An equivalent combination of relevant education, training, certifications, and progressively responsible work experience may be considered in place of the degree requirements.

Qualifications

Experience supporting enterprise information systems and databases, including data analysis for reporting, integrations, interfaces, and extracts. Experience with reporting, dashboards, workflow automation, low-code tools, and SQL/PostgreSQL preferred. Higher education, Ellucian, and Microsoft technology experience preferred.
