GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Under general supervision the Enrollment Specialist is responsible for facilitating patient access to healthcare by helping uninsured or underinsured individuals apply for public health insurance and sliding-fee scales.
GENERAL DUTIES: (This list may not include all of the duties assigned.)
- Screen patients for eligibility and assist with applications for Medi-Cal, Medicare, and other local assistance programs
- Interpret and apply FQHC sliding fee discount scales to calculate affordable out-of-pocket costs based on family size and income
- Assist in education of patients about available health coverage
- Track and follow up with patients for missing application documents, monitor pending cases, and assist patients with benefit recertifications
- Input and verify patient data within the Electronic Health Record system to ensure accurate reporting and compliance.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1-2 years of experience in healthcare, social services, or public health
- Strong understanding of FQHC guidelines, HRSA requirements, and local/state healthcare assistance programs
- Exceptional customer service and problem-solving skills to guide patients through complex processes
- Computer literate, email, MS Office and data entry skills required. Ability to type 45 wpm and utilize a ten-kay calculator.
- Educated on and compliant with HIPAA regulations; maintains strict confidentiality of patient and client information.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE
- Proficiency in Billing Software and Electronic Health Records
- Managing multiple tasks and prioritizing responsibilities
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) is highly desired to serve our diverse population
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
