    Job Description: The candidate must possess the required certification/license and demonstrate an understanding of reading and writing instruction. Job description details and expectations include:

    • Proficient in NYS 7-12 English Language Arts Standards and curriculum.
    • Possess thorough knowledge of the NYS Regents Examination in English Language Arts and/or NYS Grades 3-8 English Language Arts Assessment and utilize this information to plan and facilitate lessons.
    • Demonstrate a strong background in literacy.
    • Ability to utilize best practices to promote student success with reading and writing.
    • Familiarity with reading strategies for both literary and informational texts.
    • Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
    • Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and progress and modify instructional methods to fit individual student needs.
    • Willing and able to work in a collaborative teaching environment, including co-teaching and interdisciplinary planning.
    • Ability to engage in self-evaluation regarding performance and professional growth and seek professional learning opportunities.
    • Demonstrate an ability to engage adolescent students and interact in a manner that promotes a positive academic experience for all students.
    • Encourage family involvement and ensure effective communication with students and families.
    • Experience with social and emotional learning preferred.
