    Lake Station Community Schools is seeking an English Learner Teacher to work with non-native English speakers to help them learn to speak, read, understand, and write in English.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelors Degree (or above)
    • Possess (or eligible to possess) an Indiana Department of Education Teaching License for the 2022-2023 school year.
    • Preference given to individuals with EL and/or bilingual individuals (with Spanish preference)
    • Possess the ability to work effectively with students, parents, teachers, staff and administration.
    • Have good written and oral communication skills.
    • Computer skills/experience preferred

    Goals:

    • To fully implement instruction in the area of EL and related topics.
    • Administer all corporation policies as they relate to students and the classroom.
    • Direct and supervise the conduct of all students in the classroom.
    • Conduct language testing for students and complete required certification training related to testing.
    • Requisition all prescribed instructional materials and supplies necessary to complete the academic year.
    • Develop instructional objectives for each lesson concerning what students need and should learn and relate them to the course and state standards.
    • Correlate learning activities with instructional objectives and with the maturity and academic level of the students.
    • Establish and maintain parent-teacher communications when necessary through conferences and phone calls.
    • Participate in the planning and implementation of Family Engagement activities.
    • Create and maintain an atmosphere conducive to each students emotional and behavioral development; one in which the students can develop a sense of worth and dignity.
