    Partnerships to Uplift Communities (PUC) Schools is comprised of a non-profit network of public charter schools designed to significantly increase high school graduation rates, college entrance, and college graduation rates for underserved students in North-East Los Angeles, and the North-East San Fernando Valley.

    Our mission at PUC Schools is to develop and manage high-quality charter schools in densely populated urban communities with overcrowded and low-achieving schools. We create school programs and cultures that promote college graduation for all students. We uplift and revitalize communities through the success of our students and through inspiring them to uplift our communities now and forever and through the development of educational and other supportive partnerships.

    The Team Member we are searching for

    The ideal English Language (EL) Coordinator believes in and is passionate about the mission and commitments of PUC Schools and exhibits this through their leadership, reflection, execution of school culture, and collaboration to ensure student success. Under the direct supervision of the Chief Academic Officer, the EL Coordinator works to assist in the duties related to this role and the organization and should always represent the mission and vision of PUC Schools through daily actions in support of all stakeholders.

    What you will need to accomplish:

    Assessment & Accountability:

    • Ensure that all school site leaders meet compliance requirements for annual testing and accountability per site using the English Language Proficiency Assessment for California (ELPAC) based on California Department of Education requirements
    • Ensure that all school sites follow the PUC Schools School Advisory Committee (SAC) & English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC) Scope & Sequence in accordance with the CDE, PUC, & LAUSD.
    • Ensure that all school sites follow the PUC Schools Reclassification Matrix each year and support sites to ensure that the process is being used to determine reclassification per school year
    • Ensure that all sites have updated PUC Schools English Language Learner Recipe Card per year to support the ongoing support for teachers, leaders, and support staff related to the specific language needs of students
    • Ensure that all school sites follow the PUC Schools English Language Learner Master Plan for their site in support of our English Language Learners at all sites
    • Ensure that each school site has resources and pathways for success to be provided to teachers, staff, students, and parents related to our supports for English Language Learners
    • Ensure that each school site is following both integrated and designated instruction with compliant teachers as stated in the charter and expected of our organization for compliance and governance

    Data-Driven Research, Analysis, & Planning:

    • Work collaboratively with the Chief Academic Officer & PUC Data & SIS teams to ensure that all EL data is accurately represented in all of our data platforms for site leaders, teachers, managers, and counselors to access regularly
    • Ensure to remain actively engaged in current research and data related to theory and practice in support of language learners (K-12)
    • Work collaboratively with the Chief Academic Officer on the vision, mission, and yearly efforts in support of language learners throughout PUC Schools (K-12) based on data, research, and proven evidence-based practices
    • Work collaboratively with the Chief Academic Officer to review data actively and regularly from all of our assessment platforms at PUC Schools in support of language learners and identifies trends, patterns, and plans to support ongoing growth for our leaders, teachers, and students (K-12)

    Professional Development & Coaching:

    • Work collaboratively with the Chief Academic Officer to support the yearly PUC Schools Professional Development Scope & Sequence in areas related to language learners in support of the organization
    • Work collaboratively with the Chief Academic Officer to support site leader needs and site-specific language learner needs tied to site-level Professional Development Scope & Sequences for the year
    • Work collaboratively with the Chief Academic Officer to support site leader coaching needs related to language learners in support of their leadership and efforts with all students
    • Work collaboratively with the Chief Academic Officer to determine and create professional development and/or coaching needed for site leaders, teachers, inclusion assistants, and school and college counselors related to language learners

    Curriculum & Instruction:

    • Work collaboratively with the Chief Academic Officer to know and understand the academic vision, theory, research, data, and practices in support of all students
    • Participate as a member of the PUC Schools Academic Team working closely with Chief Academic Officer to meet the needs of school sites in support of students
    • Work collaboratively with the Chief Academic Officer to research and recommend curriculum for language learners in support of all students and all levels (K-12)
    • Work collaboratively with the Chief Academic Officer to ensure that all school sites are using the California Department of Education English Language Development Standards and have both integrated and designated language instruction at each site
    • Work collaboratively with the Chief Academic Officer Academics to regularly visit classroom instruction (K-12) and determine school site and organization-wide areas of strength and continued growth related to integrated and designated language instruction in support of our language learners
    • Work collaboratively with the Chief Academic Officer and school site leaders to determine curriculum and instructional focus areas, based on data, in support of each site's language learner needs
    • Works collaboratively with the Chief Academic Officer to support site leaders to strengthen their development, coaching, and/or progress monitoring at the site in support of language learners

    Other:

    • Work with the PUC Schools Academic Team, under the guidance and direction of the Chief Academic Officer, to design, engage, collaborate, create, support, and develop support of school sites and students
    • Perform other duties as assigned
