Job Title: Engineering Technician

Job Description

The Engineering Technician provides hands-on technical support in a GMP manufacturing environment by executing maintenance and engineering activities, troubleshooting equipment and process issues, supporting validation efforts, and driving continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with quality and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Support manufacturing operations by troubleshooting equipment, process, and production issues to minimize downtime and maintain consistent output.
  • Perform maintenance and engineering work on production equipment to keep systems running safely, reliably, and efficiently.
  • Partner closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to resolve technical challenges and improve operational performance.
  • Assist with equipment startups, installations, upgrades, and continuous improvement projects to enhance capacity and reliability.
  • Support validation and qualification activities (IQ/OQ/PQ) for equipment and processes in alignment with GMP and regulatory expectations.
  • Participate in equipment qualification, commissioning, and process validation efforts as needed.
  • Investigate deviations and nonconformances, identify root causes, and help implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze technical and process data to support troubleshooting, process improvements, and operational decision-making.
  • Prepare and complete accurate technical documentation, ensuring compliance with GMP, quality, and change control requirements.
  • Maintain thorough records of maintenance, calibration, validation, and qualification activities.
  • Provide hands-on technical support, guidance, and knowledge sharing to production technicians on equipment operation and troubleshooting.
  • Participate in internal and external audits and inspections, supporting documentation review and responding to technical questions.
  • Contribute to ongoing initiatives to improve safety, product quality, equipment reliability, and overall operational efficiency.

Essential Skills

  • Associate degree in a technical field.
  • At least 2 years of equipment troubleshooting experience in a manufacturing or similar technical environment.
  • Experience with equipment qualification, validation, commissioning, or manufacturing support activities.
  • Hands-on experience with validation and qualification activities, including IQ/OQ/PQ.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for equipment, processes, and production issues.
  • Experience preparing and maintaining technical documentation in a regulated environment.
  • Ability to perform and document root cause analysis and support corrective and preventive actions.
  • Familiarity with change control processes and their application to equipment and process changes.
  • Ability to support process validation and equipment qualification efforts.
  • Strong self-starter who can work independently while effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Comfort working in a GMP, regulated manufacturing environment such as medical device, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working in a GMP manufacturing environment.
  • Background in medical device, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life science, or other FDA-regulated industries.
  • Understanding of FDA regulatory expectations for manufacturing and quality systems.
  • Experience with calibration activities and documentation is beneficial.
  • Exposure to continuous improvement initiatives in a production or engineering setting.
  • Interest in contributing to technologies that improve patients' quality of life, particularly in medical device and biologics applications.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to clearly document technical work and findings.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, growth-oriented, and laid-back culture while maintaining high quality and compliance standards.

Work Environment

This role operates in an FDA-regulated GMP manufacturing environment focused on medical device and biologics production. The Engineering Technician works primarily on-site around production equipment, supporting equipment troubleshooting, validation, and ongoing operations. The position follows a Monday through Friday first-shift schedule, with occasional weekend hours as needed to support manufacturing activities, maintenance, or validation work. The environment emphasizes safety, quality, and regulatory compliance, while also fostering collaboration, hands-on learning, and professional growth through exposure to equipment troubleshooting, validation projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vandalia, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $33.00/hr.
