The Position
We are pleased to announce an opportunity for a skilled and motivated Engineering Technician Senior - Electrical Engineering to join our Hydroelectric Department. This role is critical in supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our hydroelectric generation facilities. We are seeking an individual who brings strong technical expertise, sound judgment, and a proactive approach to both routine and complex maintenance activities within hydroelectric power plants.
As an Engineering Technician Senior assigned to Hydroelectric, you will play a key role in assisting with engineering design, preparing and maintaining technical drawings, specifications, and estimates related to electrical facilities and plant equipment. Your work will directly support hydroelectric maintenance projects, equipment upgrades, regulatory inspections, and capital improvements. Ensuring that all drawings, field changes, and documentation conform to District standards and industry codes will be essential.
This position requires a professional who is capable of performing detailed inspections of completed work, verifying that construction and maintenance activities comply with applicable regulations and established engineering practices. You will coordinate closely with field supervisors, operations staff, technicians, and other departments to schedule work, address technical challenges, and provide solutions that maintain operational readiness and reliability of hydroelectric systems.

JOB SUMMARY
Perform a variety of paraprofessional office and field engineering work including planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance of electrical generation, substation, communication, transmission and distribution systems; to provide supervision over technical staff as assigned; and to provide assistance to other engineering staff as necessary.
Examples of Duties
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential:
Assist in the preparation of engineering design and related drawings, specification and estimates in connection with electrical facilities. Ensure that the drawings conform to District regulation and standards.
Inspect completed projects for conformance to drawings, and applicable codes, standards, regulations, laws, and practices.
Maintain accurate records and drawings of all District facilities.
Coordinate completion of jobs between other departments and customers (job scheduling). Provide technical support to field supervisors or other departments when questions or problems arise.
Provide technical support and assistance to technicians, and other areas within the District.
Comply with and enforce all District rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Non-Essential:
Perform other related duties as required or assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the skills and abilities would be:
Education
Usually exhibited by a person with a Associate's degree from an accredited college or
university with major course work in engineering, mathematics, economics, or a related field.
Experience
Usually exhibited by a person with three years responsible experience performing duties equivalent to that of an Engineering Technician - Electrical II for the Turlock Irrigation District.

Must have ability to: perform and coordinate engineering related activities with other District administrations, departments and divisions, and with outside agencies and customers; plan and meet deadlines; and supervise assigned technical staff.

Health Insurance is provided by the District and administered through our Third Party Administrator. Turlock Irrigation District utilizes the Anthem Blue Cross Prudent Buyer PPO Network. Out-of-pocket expenses can be limited if Anthem Blue Cross plan providers and hospitals are used. Employees have a choice of a PPO Plan or a HDHP (High Deductible Health Plan) during open enrollment or a qualifying event as per IRS plan guidelines.
Prescription Insurance is administered by Navitus. We have a four-tiered co-pay structured plan: generic; formulary; non-formulary; & specialty. For maintenance medications, the Navitus "Mail Order" plan is most cost effective.
Dental Insurance is provided by the District and administered through Delta Dental PPO Network. Preventative benefits are paid at 100%; basic benefits are paid at 80%, crowns, jackets and cast restoration benefits are paid at 50%. The District offers a voluntary Base Plus Buy-Up plan. Employee costs are minimized when utilizing a Delta Dental PPO Dentist/Orthodontist.
Vision Insurance is provided by the District and administered through VSP. Employee costs are minimized when utilizing a VSP Optometrist. The District offers a voluntary Buy-Up Vision plan.
Flexible Spending Account (Section 125) is made available to employees to cover health and/or dependent care expenses on a pre-tax basis. A flexible spending account credit card is provided by BCC for health care reimbursable expenses as per IRS regulations.
Health Savings Account is made available for those employees electing the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) only. A Health Savings Account credit card is provided by BCC for health care reimbursable expenses as per IRS regulations.
Life Insurance & Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance is provided by the District through VOYA Employee Benefits. Coverage amount is two times the employees annual base salary. The maximum benefit is $200,000.
Supplemental Life Insurance (Employees/Dependents) is available to District employees on a voluntary basis from VOYA Employee Benefits. Employees may elect up to $500,000, in addition to electing spousal coverage up to a maximum of $100k.
Long Term Disability is provided by the District and administered by VOYA Employee Benefits. The benefit may reimburse up to 66.66% of basic monthly earnings.
Deferred Compensation (457b plan) is available on a voluntary basis to District employees. Contributions are made before taxes through payroll deductions. Employees can authorize withholdings per IRS guidelines. Catch up provisions are available at age 50.
Social Security/Medicare participation is required for all employees. The District matches the employee contribution.
