The Cell Quality & Field Reliability team is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Engineering Technician to support cell failure analysis and reliability testing. The role centers on CT scanning operations from sample preparation to scan execution and analysis, with opportunities to collaborate with lab engineers on broader test preparation and execution.

  • Prepare battery cells for CT scanning including handling, data entry, and fixture setup
  • Operate and maintain the CT scanner to support failure analysis and testing projects
  • Manage the CT request queue including prioritization, communication with requestors, and timely turnaround
  • Maintain organized records and logs associated with CT operation
  • Identify internal defects and geometric anomalies using image viewing and volumetric analysis software
  • Optimize CT profiles for image quality and develop custom fixtures using in-house equipment
  • Assist lab engineers with test setup and documentation
  • Associate's degree in engineering technology or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience in a technical lab environment
  • Familiarity with fundamental principles of radiography and lithium-ion cell technology
  • Experience with 3D-modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion360, or similar)
  • Hands-on experience with functional part/fixture fabrication (e.g., 3D printing or machining)
  • Detail-oriented approach to sample tracking, documentation, and test execution
  • Ability to lift and sort parts of up to 30 pounds as required
  • Willing to occasionally flex shifts to accommodate higher request volumes or machine downtime

Preferred/Strong Plus

  • Experience with VGStudio or similar 3D reconstruction or volumetric analysis software
  • Hands-on experience in assembly, troubleshooting, or repair of electronics (e.g., soldering, RC/consumer energy storage)
  • Experience with SQL/Python
  • Experience with robotics (e.g., design, assembly, programming)
