Job Description:
Amptek is seeking a highly motivated Engineering Technician to support the development, qualification, manufacture, and sustainment of world-class X-ray and gamma-ray detection products. This role will provide hands-on technical support to engineering, manufacturing, quality, and operations teams through breadboard development, troubleshooting, testing, debugging, and other engineering support activities.
The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting new product introduction activities, maintaining existing product lines, diagnosing customer returns, developing test solutions, and improving manufacturing processes. The position requires a strong electronics background combined with hands-on mechanical aptitude and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced engineering and manufacturing environment.
This position combines laboratory work, technical troubleshooting, and manufacturing support while collaborating closely with electrical/mechanical engineering, manufacturing, quality, and production teams in Bedford, MA.

Documentation, Equipment Maintenance & Continuos Improvement (10%)
Required Qualifications:
Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronic Engineering Technology, or related technical discipline.
Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in electronics manufacturing, test, troubleshooting, or engineering support.
Experience soldering and reworking through-hole and surface-mount electronic assemblies.
Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics and engineering drawings.
Experience troubleshooting electronic circuits using:
Oscilloscopes
Digital multimeters
Power supplies
Electronic test equipment
Experience diagnosing PCB assembly defects, missing components, damaged traces, and electrical failures.
Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on laboratory skills.
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills, including effective verbal and written communication in English.
Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-marking, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs
