Engineering Support Specialist (Weekend Shift)

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks an Engineering Support Specialist to join our Manufacturing Test Infrastructure team in Pullman, Washington. We design, build, maintain, and support the test stations, fixtures, and cable assemblies used throughout SEL manufacturing facilities to ensure every product meets our high standards for quality and reliability.

Engineering Support Specialists support Manufacturing Test Infrastructure. In this hands-on technical role, you'll build, deliver, maintain, and troubleshoot test stations, fixtures, and cable systems while partnering with Manufacturing and Engineering teams.

Weekend Shift

• Friday through Monday
• 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Second Shift

• Monday through Friday
• 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m

A Typical Day Might Include

• Building test stations, fixtures, and cable assemblies-routing, terminating, and soldering wire and cable with an emphasis on neatness, correctness, and care.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and mechanical drawings.
• Troubleshoot and maintain production test systems and infrastructure to support manufacturing operations.
• Support engineering teams in implementing solutions that increase product quality and reliability.
• Support equipment installations, upgrades, and infrastructure improvement projects.
• Maintain engineering and manufacturing documentation, work instructions, and records.
• Participate in root cause investigations and corrective action activities.
• Support continuous improvement, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and World Class Manufacturing initiatives.
• Follow department processes and quality standards while identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Communicate effectively with engineering teams and cross-functional partners regarding project status and technical issues.
• Apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing principles in daily work.

Physical Requirements

• Lift, push, pull, and maneuver up to 20 pounds frequently and up to 35 pounds occasionally.
• Sit and stand for extended periods of time, up to eight hours per day.
• Vision correctable to 20/30 or better.
• Ability to differentiate color.
• Frequent use of computer keyboards and related devices.
• Ability to reach, bend, twist, and perform standard manufacturing and testing activities.

Pay Range Data: $29.76 - $37.00 per hour

Our compensation ranges are based on the responsibilities of the role. Starting pay is determined individually and considers factors such as relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and training. Candidates may be considered at different levels based on their background. As a result, pay may vary to align with the level of the role. Weekend Shift employees receive an additional $10.00 per hour differential, and Second Shift employees receive an additional $5.00 per hour differential above their base wage.
