Engineering Specialist Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls

Position Overview

We are seeking an Engineering Specialist to support the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of electrical, instrumentation, and process control systems across multiple energy facilities in Wisconsin.

This is a hands-on technical role supporting LNG / peak-shaving facilities. The position will work closely with operations personnel, engineering teams, vendors, contractors, and regulatory inspectors to troubleshoot systems, support capital and maintenance projects, improve equipment reliability, and provide technical training.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with industrial electrical systems, PLCs, ladder logic, instrumentation, process controls, and troubleshooting. Experience with Allen-Bradley / Rockwell Automation PLCs is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide technical oversight and support for electrical, instrumentation, and process control systems across multiple facilities.

Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving PLCs, ladder logic, instrumentation, communications, control systems, and electrical equipment.

Support safe and reliable operation of facility systems in accordance with applicable regulatory and industry requirements.

Provide technical support and training to operators on:

Safety systems

Process controls

Communications systems

Low-voltage MCCs

Switchgear

Electrical and control equipment

Perform and/or support calibration of transmitters, meters, level sensors, and other instrumentation.

Evaluate equipment condition and system performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability and reduce lifecycle costs.

Support planning and execution of capital, maintenance, and reliability projects.

Develop technical specifications, review bids, and work with vendors and contractors during project execution.

Participate in equipment commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, and system improvements.

Provide technical leadership and guidance to operations and maintenance personnel.

Support consistency and standardization of electrical and control systems across multiple facilities.

Interface with internal business units, vendors, contractors, regulators, and inspectors.

Assist with identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, automation, reliability, and operational efficiency.

Travel periodically between Wisconsin facilities to provide onsite technical support.

Required Qualifications

Associate degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Instrumentation & Controls, Automation, Industrial Technology, or a related technical discipline.

Approximately 5+ years of relevant industrial electrical, controls, automation, instrumentation, or engineering experience.

Strong hands-on experience with PLC systems and ladder logic.

Experience troubleshooting and supporting industrial automation and control systems.

Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, control drawings, P&IDs, and related technical documentation.

Experience working with electrical equipment and industrial control systems in a plant, manufacturing, utility, energy, or similar environment.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work directly with operators, maintenance personnel, engineers, vendors, and contractors.

Willingness to work onsite and travel between facilities as needed.

Ability to safely work around industrial equipment and climb facility ladders periodically.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Allen-Bradley / Rockwell Automation PLCs.

Experience with Studio 5000, RSLogix, FactoryTalk, or similar control platforms.

Experience with instrumentation and calibration.

Experience with MCCs, switchgear, VFDs, transformers, and electrical distribution systems.

Background in LNG, natural gas, oil & gas, power generation, utilities, or other process industries.

Experience with commissioning, startup, FAT/SAT, or field troubleshooting.

Familiarity with NFPA 70, NFPA 59A, 49 CFR 193, or comparable industrial safety/regulatory standards.

Experience supporting capital projects from planning through implementation.
