Title: Quality Inspector 
Location: Houston, TX
Duration: 6 months Contract
Pay Rate: $18.38 - $19.24 per hour on W2
Schedule: 5:00 am - 1:30 pm Monday to Friday


Job Description
Assures conformance to specifications by verifying electrical/mechanical parts dimensionally, functionally, and/or visually per established procedures, such as flatness, parallelism, concentricity, ohms, volts, and amps. Demonstrates a working knowledge of blueprints and military specifications. Utilizes inspection tools and test equipment, including coordinated measuring machines, optical comparators, Positive Material Identification (PMI), fixed or special gauges, and/or test equipment and fixtures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform basic set-up and demonstrate basic math skills.
  • Apply Statistical Process Control (SPC) and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing principles.
  • Understand electrical principles.
  • Monitor the MRB area and process rejected material using the Oracle Quality Module according to established procedures.
  • Take initiative in updating inspection procedures, dispositioning defective materials, and resolving problems with received parts.
  • Provide training as necessary.
  • Perform first piece inspection on mechanical/electrical parts or assemblies.
  • Employ SPC techniques and take appropriate action.
  • Participate in improvement initiatives as necessary.
  • Conduct source inspection and process audits as required.
  • Assist in calibration, inventory control, and maintenance of controlled gauges, instruments, and tooling specified by standards.
  • Attend required training for American Society for Quality (ASQ) CMI and/or IPC 610 testing.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as required.

Must Haves

  • Must have strong blueprint reading, GD&T, dimensional inspection, and precision measurement skills.
  • Experience with CMM, gauges, optical comparator, and electrical testing (ohms, volts, amps) is important.
  • Knowledge of SPC, first-piece inspection, military specifications, and MRB/nonconforming material is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Oracle Quality, ASQ CMI, and IPC-A-610 is a plus.
