About Large Power Systems Division:
The Large Power Systems Division (LPSD) is part of Caterpillar's Power & Energy segment. Through this global organization, Caterpillar designs and manufactures large (greater than 18 liters) diesel and natural gas engines, powertrains and key engine systems. LPSD products and solutions support customers across power generation, industrial, marine, oil & gas, rail, services and Cat machine applications worldwide.

Role Definition:
This position is responsible for leading the design, development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of G3500 large natural gas engine products for Oil & Gas applications. The role provides engineering leadership across Continuous Product Improvement (CPI), New Technology Introduction (NTI), and New Product Introduction (NPI) initiatives, ensuring product performance, quality, cost, and customer requirements are achieved throughout the product lifecycle.
What You Will Do:
Ownership for application team budget
Coaching CPI, NTI, and NPI team members
New Technology Introduction (NTI) or New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineering leadership support
Ensure program functional requirements and cost targets are met
Managing Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) projects using Six Sigma DMAIC principles for - defining root cause, solution implementation and validation
Managing product quality projects - defining root cause and solution implementation and validation using Six Sigma DMAIC principles
Product price list configuration support
Complete bill of material configuration management
Lead engine hardware design direction by guiding L3 systems engineers
Managing material cost reduction projects - defining projects and validation
Conducting DFMEA to drive validation requirements on product changes
Conducting design reviews with a cross functional audience
Production factory build support
APQP / CTS management / VDRA resolution
ARC files / Product Structure management
Supporting customer service and marketing inquiries
Working with component support team, validation team, factory operations, application and installation and customer service teams as needed to ensure robust product solutions.
Travel to supplier or customer sites pending project need (~10% travel)
What You Will Have (Preferred Skills):

Requirements Analysis: Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.
Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing or product management environment.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology or equivalent and relevant experience
A basic understanding of large gas and/or diesel engine operation
What Will Put You Ahead (Desired Skills):
8+ years of engineering experience related to Engines
Large gas and/or diesel troubleshooting skills
Understanding of Caterpillar engine product configuration
Caterpillar 6 Sigma training
Familiarity with CSA, EU and API standards
Proficiency working with computers and computer systems. Software programs used frequently include, but not limited to: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power Point, Creo, Team Center

Summary Pay Range:
$128,470.00 - $192,710.00
